why doesn't life always go the way we want ... or expect? why is that sometimes, in spite of the hurts, bad situations turn out for our good?

What is Jesus' counter kingdom all about?

do you like being told what to do? do you like being told what NOT to do? when you think of rules do you think of restrictions or freedom? what's your gut instinct towards those who implement rules? can Jesus 'break' the rules and still be good?

We engage with 2 stories of Jesus 'breaking the rules' on the sabbath and take the opportunity to explore the true heart of God when He commands.

A storm was brewing - Many people encountered Jesus and trusted in Him fully - others were confused by Him and opposed him.

What do we trust in? Where do we assign our value? What does Jesus say about being half hearted versus 'all in'

how do we view ourselves? how do we view Jesus? how does Jesus view us and him?

How those questions are answered affects how we live our whole lives. In Luke 5 we meet 4 people who encounter Jesus and find out they've failed to see the whole picture.

Was Jesus really the one that had long been promised to come and put things right? Can we really believe the claims that are made about him ... especially if they depend on miracles?
