Rainbow Blak brings you a hard hitting jam packed episode exploring how UK Grime artist Stormyz single-handley shut down Glastonbury Festival by dominating the iconic Pyramid stage with his powerfully curated show at the legendary festival in the UK.  Stormyz not only headlined Glastonbury he got people debating, talking, thinking a bout social issues which have for the most part been sweep under a rather large political rug by the UK governments.  He bought us the splendour of Ballet Black a groundbreaking ballet company who lit up twitter when they told their story through beautifully choreographed dance and emotive music scores, you had gospel, bike life displays, street dance and Grenfell Tower bought to the forefront of his set. More importantly you had giants like Bansky collaborating with Stormyz to grab the attention of the masses to highlight the epidemic of young people dying through knife crime across the UK.  Oh and Boris Johnson MP got his own serenade to the tune of thousands.  Stormyz took us on a journey were we ready hell yes.  This was a performance that will be discussed for years to come it came with controversy and upset but l rather think that was the point.  One things for sure UK Grime artists have a fan base on the festival circuit and the appetite is not dying down. 

Other artists that stood out were new legends Lizzo and Little Simz and of course Lauryn Hill.

Rainbow Blak also goes in on that revealing Windrush Generation documentary by David Olusoga "Unwanted:The Secret Windrush Files who exposes how the UK  government knowing created a hostile environment for Caribbean people for over 70 years. Airing on BBC IPlayer.

Rainbow Blak explores the delicate subject of Domestic Abuse with a very raw and frank discussion about Boris Johnson's mask falling off. Just has the blue bloodied boy of politicks is about to scoop the role of Prime Minister a scandal of magnitude proportions breaks out regarding Domestic Abuse. Carrie Symonds girlfriend 31 years old partner of Boris Johnson was involved in an domestic situation.  Police was called by neighbours who were concerned about the safety of Miss Symonds who could be heard saying "Get Off Me"

Boris Johnson who was not arrested has applied for an injunction to stop the recording of the altercation being released into the public domain. Making us think he may have something to hide. Once in public office should be open to public scrutiny. Well thats the debate thats happening up and down the country whilst he runs for the position of UK Prime Minister set to succeed outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May. 

One things for sure it has opened a very public debate on how Domestic Abuse is seen and dealt with in the UK. How its reported, social attitudes, victims and perpretrators what is the protocol for both parties when a Domestic Abuse call is placed ? Also what is Domestic Abuse?

Why don't victims leave what are some of the barriers to victims not leaving their situation.  What support is available for both victim/perpetrator ?

Rainbow Blak talks Pride Season and the rise of Homophobic Hate Crimes in the UK  against men & women of the community. A recent high profile case to hit the media is Lesbian couple Melania Grey and her partner Chris.  Whilst travelling on a bus in North London a group of teenaged boys began to harass, coerce and demand that they perform and kiss each other for the entertainment of their group.  When the couple refused they were beaten, verbally assaulted and robbed of their possessions.  

No bystanders came to their aide and subsequently the group fled.  Latest news due to social media exposure and public outcry.  Have seen 5 teenaged males arrested but not identified due to their ages. 

Both women express that they still feel angry but they will not be silenced or forced to not display their relationship status. 

All of this follows a spate of Trans Black women being targeted and killed in the U.S with no visible signs of justice for their lives. This begs the question are LGBTQI  protected or fought for the way their Caucasian LGBTQI community is in 2019. Rainbow Blak discusses whats the real meaning of Pride beyond the partying and corporation riding the rainbow flag pink pound train. 

Rainbow Blak also talks about why there is still a need to have a UK Black Pride and truth about visibility POC being the minority within the minority within the White/ Caucasian.  Founder Phyll Opoku-Gyimah heading up a bigger venue for this years UK Black Pride and becoming head of Kalediscope Trust an groundbreaking LGBTQI Organisation in the UK.

Rainbow blak touches on the Transpobic faced by Muneroe Bergdorf &NSPCC cancelling her contract to work with LGBTQI  children the controversy/apology.

RB discusses the 2 year anniversary of Grenfell Tower for survivors and the 72 people that lost their lives to an unlawful devastating tower block fire caused by flammable cladding installed on the block of flats built in 1974 in North Kensington London. The tragedy took place on 14th June in 2017 and involved 45 London fire fighters who tackled the blaze which spread within minutes for over 72 hours. 

The scenes were projected online and across media which at the time looked surreal with victims crying , screaming for help and with no help in sight many chose to jump from the building which is 24 storeys high and was burning ferociously.  Amongst the casualties were disabled, elderly, children, whole families, friends and visitors of residents.  Many lives were lost on that night but what followed the fallout of the tragedy was even more painful than the fire and loss of life.

Survivors found themselves traumatised by their experience, those involved in the fire and residents situated beneath the tower were now left with the prospect of being homeless, displaced and unsupported, ignored by Kensington & Chelsea council and by Theresa May the UK Prime Minister.  Some were placed in bedsits or supported by thousands of volunteers from all over the country who donated food, clothing, medicine, mental health & services. 

2 years on and many of the survivors are still living in bedsits, have no answers from Kensington & Chelsea Council and thousands of buildings across the UK  have been identified has having the same flammable cladding, health & safety issues and councils that are also ignoring their voices regarding sprinkler systems, building regulations & accountability.

Fast forward to this week and a similar fire broke out in Barking, East London where a 6 storey building was engulfed in flames in 3 minutes again the residents warned Bell Way Homes about safety fears and again could have cost lives if it had happened in the night. 

Rainbow Blak goes all the way in whilst paying homage to those who have lost their lives and survivors. Silence is not golden this is everyones problem.

Rainbow Blak brings you a very special Fathers Day Episode to discuss, celebrate and basically destroy many of the harmful myths around Black Fathers being absent or poor fathers to their children. She also explores some of the barriers that stop men in general being present for their children or from being the best fathers they can be to their children.  These may include situations and circumstances that are beyond their control i.e. Restraining Orders, breakdown in their intimate relationships i.e. separation/divorce or conflict with co-parenting. 

Rainbow Blak also looks at where men receive some of their own learning about what they think Fatherhood is.  The expectations society and they place on themselves.  With this in mind she also discusses what impact fathers, fathers can have on how they interact and bond with their own children particularly if the child involved experienced a negative experience or memory of their father.  How to break the cycle.

Rainbow Blak & Guest share their very intimate carpooling style review of hit cop series Line Of Duty season 1 written by Jed Mercurio.  In a funny humorous trip home Rainbow Blak & J speak explicitly about their experience of season 1 of Line Of Duty with the central character being Detective Tony Gates (Lennie James). 

Line Of Duty is a series based on the UK Police force and special unit known has AC-12 designed to ensure that all serving police officers are delivering the service to the general public at the highest standard. The unit was primarily put together to flush out any officers that are involved in corruption or acting untoward in their duties.  These types of discrepancies are usually raised by the general public via the IPCC (Independent Police Complaints Commission) but before that complaint is upheld an internal investigation will be triggered if evidence or actions performed by the officer doesn't measure or match up to company standards which is why the unit will draft in undercover officers such has those depicted in Line Of Duty to ensure actions and decisions are done lawfully. However this series shows us in every department there are unfortunately bad apples and AC-12 team DC Fleming (Vicky McClure), DC Arnott (Martin Compston)and SuperIntendant Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) are on the case leaving no stones unturned.
