Nl: Lotte wist dat ze laat was voor de verjaardagsbrunch van haar beste vriendin Anna.
En: Lotte knew she was late for her best friend Anna's birthday brunch.

Nl: Ze haastte zich op haar fiets door de straten van Amsterdam, met een groot boeket tulpen in haar hand en een zak stroopwafels aan haar stuur hangend.
En: She hurried through the streets of Amsterdam on her bicycle, with a large bouquet of tulips in her hand and a bag of stroopwafels hanging from her handlebars.

Nl: Het was een drukke dag in de stad en het fietspad was vol met toeristen die foto's maakten en langzaam reden.
En: It was a busy day in the city and the bike path was full of tourists taking pictures and driving slowly.

Nl: Lotte probeerde behendig door de menigte te manoeuvreren - tot ze een groep toeristen zag die plotseling stilstonden om een straatzanger te bekijken.
En: Lotte tried to maneuver through the crowd with dexterity - until she saw a group of tourists who suddenly stopped to watch a street singer.

Nl: Maar toen ze bij het huis van Anna aankwam, wachtte er een verrassing op haar.

Nl: Ik heb een grappig verhaal om te vertellen over hoe ik hier ben gekomen."
En: I have a funny story to tell about how I got here."

Nl: En zo vertelde Lotte haar vriendin het verhaal van de botsing op het fietspad - wat uiteindelijk leidde tot een nog mooiere verjaardagsbrunch dan ze ooit had kunnen bedenken.
En: And so Lotte told her friend the story of the bike path collision - which ultimately led to an even more beautiful birthday brunch than she could have ever imagined.
