US President Donald Trump has warned, "heavy and pinpoint bombing" will continue uninterrupted for as long as necessary to achieve the "objective" of peace in the Middle East.

But that objective has been called naive by some analysts, with one Democratic congressman warning the White House doesn't have an endgame, and hasn't learned the lessons of history.
