In this lesson, we begin our look at the Book of Nahum: introduction through chapter 3 and verse 13. 

From Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,” this message asks a piercing question: Which way are you headed? Every life moves toward wisdom or foolishness. God’s Word calls for a course correction through Christ, “the wisdom of God” (1 Corinthians 1:24). Turn from drifting, seek Him, and walk the path that leads to life.

In this message from Ruth 2:18–23, we see how God turns bitterness into blessing through His providence and His people. Naomi, once consumed with sorrow, begins to see the hand of the LORD at work through Ruth’s faithfulness and Boaz’s kindness. “Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness” (Ruth 2:20). This passage reminds us that God’s hesed—His steadfast lovingkindness—often comes through ordinary acts of obedience and encouragement. As Ruth labored faithfully, God was weaving redemption through every detail. We are challenged to be encouragers, channels of grace, and instruments of hope. Above all, we are pointed to Jesus Christ, our Kinsman-Redeemer, who redeems, restores, and brings us into His family forever.

In this message from Revelation 3:14–22, Christ confronts a lukewarm church that appeared strong outwardly but was empty within. He declares, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock” (Revelation 3:20), revealing His patient, pleading heart toward sinners and saints alike. Though rejected, He still invites: “if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in.” This is a call to repentance, renewed fellowship, and true surrender. Christ is not impressed with appearance—He seeks the heart. Will you open the door? Will you live for self, or fully yield to Him who alone gives life, joy, and eternal reward?

This message from Ruth 2:14–18 reveals the heart of our Redeemer, who not only allows us in His field but calls us to His table. Boaz’s words, “Come thou hither, and eat of the bread” (Ruth 2:14), picture Christ inviting sinners into covenant fellowship through His grace. Ruth, once a stranger, is brought near, satisfied, and strengthened. After the meal, she rises to labor with renewed purpose, gathering abundance through “handfuls of purpose.” So it is with the believer—saved by grace, then sent to serve with endurance and joy. The same Lord who invites also provides. “Come unto me… and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Will you come?

In this powerful message from Psalm 46:1–11, we are reminded that when everything around us gives way, God remains unshaken—“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

From the storms of life to the shaking of nations, this sermon calls us to anchor our souls in the unchanging character of God. We are not promised a life without trouble, but we are promised His presence: “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalm 46:7).

When fear rises and control slips away, God commands us, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
