Greater Days Are Coming! – Haggai Series #5
What if your greatest days in Christ are not behind you, but still ahead? In this powerful message from Haggai 2:6–9, “Greater Days Are Coming!” Pastor Seiber walks us through one of the most hope-filled prophecies in the Old Testament and shows why believers never have to live chained to the fear that the “glory days” are over.
The returned exiles in Haggai’s day looked at their small, unimpressive temple and felt defeated. They remembered Solomon’s glory, and what they were rebuilding seemed weak, insignificant, and not worth the effort. Into that discouragement, God spoke: “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts.” This sermon takes that promise apart, line by line, and applies it directly to weary hearts and struggling churches today.
You’ll hear what it really means that our God is “the LORD of hosts”—Yahweh of armies—the One who can shake heaven, earth, sea, dry land, and all nations at His command. You’ll be reminded that your job is not to be powerful, but to be faithful; it is God’s job to be God. When He says, “I will shake…” and “I will fill…” and “I will give peace,” He is staking His own Name on the future of His work.
This sermon also unpacks the rich phrase, “the desire of all nations shall come,” pointing you to the Lord Jesus Christ as the true Treasure every heart is longing for, even when it does not know His Name. You’ll see how this prophecy points forward to Christ’s first coming, His unshakable Kingdom, and the glory yet to be revealed when He returns.
Pastor Seiber then shows how God’s promise, “I will fill this house with glory,” changes the way we view church and the Christian life. The glory is not in gold, buildings, or outward impressiveness—it is in the manifest presence of God. You’ll be encouraged as you’re reminded that believers today are the temple of the Holy Ghost, and that the gathered church is “an habitation of God through the Spirit.”
Finally, this sermon presses home God’s ownership of all resources—“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine”—and His promise to give true peace: deep, soul-restoring shalom through the finished work of Christ. Whether you’re discouraged about your life, your church, or the culture around you, this message will lift your eyes to a sovereign, sufficient Savior and a future that is brighter than you can imagine.
If you need fresh hope, if you’re tempted to believe your story with God has already peaked, listen in and learn why, for the child of God, greater days really are coming—not because of us, but because of Him.
