It's the post-season! The champagne and beer has flowed, the Hall of Fame hot takes are over and the NFL Draft prep begins in earnest.
But until then we've got QBs in two minds, contract shuffling, season recaps and very, very loose bits of news and updates along the way. There's even some time for confessions and hint at a draft love to come - so enjoy!
It was the Superbowl! and we got a good game, plenty of drama and talking points and unfortunately, no Superbowl MVP for Evan McPherson.
That's right this week we get into the big game and break it all down while also touching lightly on the Kyler Murray story that is continuing to bubble up and also touch on the Hall of Fame snubs of this year, future years and where does Matt Stafford fit into all of this?
We also create several new Halls in order to start placing people, which ultimately brings up Eli and Brad's restraint is tested to it's limit.
It's Superbowl time baby!!!
We've got the Cincinnati Bengals going up against the Los Angeles Rams in a battle of Tom's love for Joe Burrow versus Brad's 'Stiffy for Stafford' campaign, Aaron Donald versus a suspect O-line (maybe), stud rookie WR versus superstar vet CB & of course - Evan MVPherson kicking opposite Matt Gay.
It's going to be a banger of a game!
But before that we have to tackle the difficult subject of the Brian Flores lawsuit and the institutional racism that black and minority staff face in the NFL and front offices. It's deep and sensitive and we offer no solutions, just a recap of events and condemnation of the NFL right now. We attempt to deliver it with sensitivity and seriousness but please let us know what more we can do if you have any ideas!
That and every other hire as all 32 head coaches are known for next year with the Saints, Dolphins, Texans, Vikings and Jaguars finding their guys - oh and Dan Snyder still fucking sucks.
Enjoy!
What a week - some banger games and some massive news!
Tom Brady has officially retired after 22 years of kicking the league's ass and becoming the GOAT, while Big Ben has also officially retired ending the career of the only Pittsburgh QB that Tom has ever known (that one year of Rudolph and one game of Charlie Batch don't count).
Then there's the two Championship games, a Superbowl to look forward to and some breaking news with Brian Flores suing the NFL, the Giants, Dolphins and Broncos. It's an absolute bumper week so come join us and listen as we break it all down (well not the Flores news just yet that's still developing!)
A couple days late but welcome back to the And The Kick Is Good podcast!
We were treated to a weekend of games, perhaps one of the best of all time, with classics every step of the way and three games ending on the result of a field goal. It was made for us!
We break every game and also all the GM & head coaching moves as Sean Payton takes a step back from football, while the Giants, Vikings and others find their GMs. Enjoy!
It's the playoffs and the wild card weekend was not really that wild but still having plenty to talk about.
When it comes to some teams we are who they thought they were, there are some that are starting to get hot and then there's others that have just gotten by.
We also recap the news of the week with head coaching interviews, a GM firing and what a new movie about Weird Al Yankovic starring Daniel Radcliffe. You know the usual.
Enjoy!
Welcome to Part Two of our end of regular season special!
Black Monday/Tuesday has come and so has Judgement Day - that's right after a game which featured a QB sneak on 3rd & 9, the Giants parted ways with Joe Judge and the hunt for a new GM and Head Coach begins.
But first we go through the ringer that was the somewhat shocking departure of Brian Flores, the inevitable firings of Matt Nagy & Vic Fangio and the curious case of Mike Zimmer. There's a cameo from an NFL player on the line, which way did it go?
How much does Brad celebrate? Who is still on the hot seat? What will these teams look for and what next for these head coaches?
It's time for the playoffs people!
We break down all the drama of Week 18 with the overtime game playoff deciders in the AFC, the meltdown of the Colts at the Jaguars and the comeback of the year for the 49ers against the Rams?!
We also get into a little playoff pick 'em to round us out!
It's such a bumper episode that we split it into, with us covering Black Monday (and Tuesday) in the other part, as well as what to look forward to with those respective teams.
Enjoy and if you're out of the playoffs like most of the league, get watching draft tape!
Happy New Year - football in 2022 is just as wild as it was in 2021 and unfortunately some of the greats are no longer around to see it.
We cover what John Madden meant to us, the Jets on the receiving end of another game winning drive from Tom Brady, the meltdown of MBC Antonio Brown and ultimately the final home game of Ben Roethlisberger.
There's every other game in here as well, as Tom and Colum debate more about Trey Lance, Brad is once again furious about the Giants season and a podcast prop bet is made about Hue Jackson, Levi Onwuzirike or the Boss Baby?
It's that time of year once again, as we approach the business end of the season to see judge which coaches are on the hot seat and who's safe for another year... or at least a few games of next season anyways.
With two seats already available - which teams will be looking on, we evaluate the position of more than a dozen coaches, as well as the Yuletide games along the way and the bearing that may have had on their positioning.
So pull up an ear and enjoy the last podcast of 2021 for And The Kick Is Good. We hope you have a lovely new year!
