After absolutely no break in scheduling whatsoever, we're starting a new series. This second miniseries is looking at the nominees from 2017 (so films released in 2016 - why don't they just do the Oscars in December to stop this confusing mess?) and first on the docket is Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson's return to direction after a 10-year hiatus. Join us as we chat about whether the film is any good (it's not), whether Mel Gibson is the worst (he is) and whether it's cause for celebration that he's back in our homes (it's not).

We've talked about all the films from the 1995 best picture category and yet we're still doing another episode this season and it absolutely was not a self-indulgent mistake, thank you very much.

In 1995 the Academy Award for Best Picture was awarded to Robert Zemeckis's Forrest Gump for some reason. Let's talk about the film and all the ways it's not good. Oh, and Joel says some stuff about how maybe it's not actually terrible but I think he was probably joking.

Closing out the non winning nominees from 1995, we look at the film that defined the 90s: Pulp Fiction.

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino; it is based on a story by Tarantino and Roger Avary. Starring John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman, it tells several stories of criminal Los Angeles.

Four Weddings and a Funeral is a 1994 British romantic comedy film directed by Mike Newell. It was the first of several films by screenwriter Richard Curtis to feature Hugh Grant, and follows the adventures of Charles (Grant) and his circle of friends through a number of social occasions as they each encounter romance.
