    Jesus is our Savior and our Deliverer. He was the One who defeated Satan on the cross
    and rendered him powerless. As followers, we stand in the victory Christ provided and
    now our responsibility is to demonstrate and administer that victory. Christ followers are
    not exempt from spiritual battles. Jesus told His disciples to watch and pray to avoid
    temptation. Those who have received healing need to be on guard from the enemy trying
    to win back some of the ground that has been reclaimed. To protect ourselves we need
    to make proper use of the spiritual weapons which God has provided for us, including
    prayer and walking in faith and obedience to our Deliverer.

    are linked together. The spirit of fear can paralyze us, and keep us from enjoying life.
    Fear is the opposite of faith. It may be described as unbelief in God’s goodness and His
    ability; it convinces us that God is not who He says He is. Fear causes us to try to control
    everything and keeps us from being obedient. Compulsive or addictive behavior may be
    a result of stress and fear. Addiction strongholds, chemical and behavioral, are almost
    always a reaction to gaping holes in a person’s life that are not being filled in a rightful or
    godly way. The enemy will do all he can to demonically tie the person into that lifestyle,
    and the bonds may become extremely strong. In almost all situations, addictions are
    kept secret; they are solitary endeavors hidden from others. Jesus came to break down
    the strongholds that keep us from experiencing His peace and love and good health.

    cause physical issues in our lives. There are many passages in Scripture that warn us
    against harboring bitterness and envy in our hearts. The most common doorways for
    bitterness are harboring unforgiveness, anger, and resentment. Jealousy, or envy,
    comes into our lives through comparison, discontentment, and ungratefulness and it is
    actually a form of idolatry. When we take our eyes off of God and fix them upon a
    person, place or thing, envy, jealousy, and covetousness come in. They are subtle
    forms of unbelief and doubt; you don’t really trust that God will provide for you. The
    enemy seeks to kill our joy, steal our contentment and destroy our relationships. But,
    Jesus came to deliver us from evil so that we may have abundant life through Him.

    At the onset of Jesus’ ministry, He announced to the people that He would fulfill the
    words from the prophet Isaiah and that healing was a huge part of that mission.
    Jesus came to break down the crippling strongholds in which the enemy has put us,
    strongholds such as bitterness, jealousy, addictions, and fear. These spiritual and
    emotional grips in our lives can lead to physical health issues as well.
    Lent is a time of self-examination and reflection, a time of repentance, fasting and
    preparation for the coming of Easter. This year we want to use this time to help us
    uncover any hidden sin and strongholds that need to be broken and to seek
    deliverance by encountering the Lord who heals.
