To be authentic is to be honest, genuine and real, not fake. It is the rejection of
pretense and hypocrisy. It is transparency and admission of failure. It is truth-telling
about all areas of life as we serve a God who is always truthful, never lies, and
never deceives. Christians seeking to be authentic rightly value humility. We need
to recognize and acknowledge the sin and brokenness in our lives, confess it, and
seek forgiveness. Not to do so reveals our pride and worldliness. We need to find
the way out of the familiar "me-centered" predicament and move toward a pattern of
honesty, integrity and openness in our relationship with God and each other.
