Religion has a place in our lives, but Jesus taught us it’s not the first place.

mercy. Jesus consistently prioritized people over His own religion, customs,

and traditions. The moment we put religion ahead of people, we move away

from Jesus. Jesus didn’t allow Himself to die on a cross because that is what

theology demanded. He did it because that’s what love demanded.

During His earthly ministry, Jesus introduced the idea that all people are

valuable. He elevated the dignity of people through His teachings, His

interactions and through His death. Because Jesus is God, He was able

to live without adjectives and labels. There were not “good” and “bad”

people, no “in” and “out” people. For Jesus, there were only people.

Jesus knew that there wasn’t much difference in the hearts of people.

We ALL need God’s love, grace and mercy.

Grace is defined as God’s unmerited favor. It’s something that we

generations. We need to affirm that their wisdom and life experience is

needed while encouraging them to continue to seek God and be spiritual

mentors.
