I recently took a trip to Guatemala with The Knot and was housed with two of my dear friends, Jason Rhee and Terrica Skaggs.  Jason has been incredibly vocal about his political views, which were historically incredibly left-leaning while I have quietly but openly proclaimed that my beliefs are more conservative.

When and why clients breach.

Wow! You guys were really riled up by my last podcast about wedding professionals breaching their agreements. I got a lot of feedback about client behavior, and I wanted to address those today.

We have all encountered clients who exhibit bad behavior.  While some people are just bad people, I believe that a majority of our clients are wonderful and lovely.  Still, client will test boundaries from time to time. They will make mistakes, and they are entitled to have bad days. The real question is whether or not we have filled our businesses to address these breaches. How and when should we deal with poor behavior from our clients? Do we have the ability to walk away from bad actors? And is it possible to overcome a breach and move forward?

BREACH!  When wedding professionals breach trust with their clients, it damages the industry as a whole.  

This month I have received three (3) inquiries from couples that currently have planners but need to move in a different direction. Why are couples rushing to change planners? Is it that there are bad actors out there committing to work that they cannot do? Are we falling down on the job and being lazy? And are we continuing to use the pandemic as an excuse to not do our very best work?
