Andrew and Jerry Save The World!

On January 19, 2023, musician David Crosby passed at the age of 81.  Crosby's music was hugely important to Andrew Langer, and in this bonus episode, Andrew talks about that influence--from Crosby's music to how he lived his life.  He talks about his relationships with his bandmates, a little about his love life, but ultimately gives a tribute to this musical giant.

There's lots of talk about the discovery of classified documents at Joe Biden's home and think tank office, but little discussion as to WHY this story is important (and what aspects of it are).  Andrew and Jerry break it down--tying it into the Hunter Biden laptop story, the press' coverage of this story, and the false equivalencies with Trump and Mar-a-Lago.  Are the Democrats ready to dump Joe Biden for 2024?  Then they shift gears and talk about the left's attempts to first ban natural gas stoves, then to pivot and try and gaslight America over their attempts.  They talk about the science and the politics--especially when it comes to both the public health justifications and the environmental justifications.  Parody accounts abound on social media, and they talk about where they help and where they hurt.  Andrew and Jerry saw the Banshees of Inisherin, the Menu, and Andrew saw the Pale Blue Eye... they discuss these and other films.  And finally, as the war on speech continues, Andrew and Jerry talk about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to police speech.

As this Episode is being recorded, the US House of Representatives is meeting to once again try and elect a new speaker--but will they?  Andrew and Jerry talk about the race, what they want in a new Speaker, who they are looking at.  But more importantly, is this really "chaos" - and if so, is that necessarily a bad thing?  Democracy is necessarily messy, and Andrew & Jerry don't care how other nations view the United States.  The Democrats are cravenly fetishizing the January 6th Capitol riots, and this doesn't serve the US well in the long term.  2023 is going to be the year of unintended consequences, and one example is California's efforts to police the speech of doctors vis a vis Covid19.  More young people were shot in Baltimore this week, and everyone is looking in the wrong direction as to why this occurred.  Mayor Brandon Scott wants to blame everyone BUT the shooters for the crime, and nobody seems to be asking the right questions.  Plus, pot was legalized for recreational use in New York and serious questions are being raised about the long-term impacts of a totally-legalized weed society.

It's the second part of a two-part holiday special, and as Andrew and Jerry look back at 2022, they cover not only the biggest stories facing America this year, but they take a deep dive into America's societal challenges as well.  Zelensky visits the United States, and for a host of reasons, conservatives seem to be divided on what to do regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine.  Andrew has a theory as to why that is--and the overall danger faced by not taking the Russian situation seriously.  Trump released NFT Digital trading cards, and this augers for his political future.  Big tech and social media, as well as the collusion with the FBI are discussed--but worse, with all of the benefits technology has given us, there are dangerous consequences as well.  Andrew and Jerry talk about the Supreme Court, January 6th, Trump's tax returns being released... and other major 2022 stories are explored.

Sam Brinton has been fired from the Department of Energy due to allegations that he stole luggage in two different airports, but that's only the latest part of the story.  America was warned--and not just because of Mssr. Brinton's wardrobe choices.  The incremental indoctrination of America by the left was predicted by Orwell in 1984, and Andrew & Jerry talk about how "Newspeak" is playing itself out.  The question is, when confronted by the insanity of progressivism, how will America react in the long term?  Can they react?

Many Americans were duped by foreign interference in both the 2016 and 2020 elections, but the leftist media is too lazy to dive deeply into the story, and instead just wants to drub Republicans and Republican politicans for buying into the lies.

Plus, following a (mostly) terrible episode of SNL, Andrew and Jerry explore when Saturday Night Live used to be funny--even when they were skewering Republican politicians.

It's time for the airing of grievances as Andrew and Jerry "celebrate" festivus.  This week's episode is a wide-ranging (and sometimes tense) discussion of how the breaking stories of the past week fit into ongoing concerns for society-now just in America, but around the world as well.   Gender fluid Biden Administration official Sam Brinton is accused to stealing luggage, again, and just what does this story say about the state of American culture in the 2020s? A restaurant in Richmond, Virginia denies service to a Christian group, and Andrew & Jerry dive deep into just what this means--talking about hypocrisy and where Americans draw the line between freedom of conscience and rights of accommodation.   It's a rare occasion where Andrew and Jerry agree about the issue overall, but disagree about some very specific aspects of it. Then, Britney Griner is released from Russia, and this leads to a thorough discussion of the fecklessness of the Biden Administration.  Just why was Griner there, and what does this mean for American arrogance overall?

Finally, we learned more about Twitter's censorship of speech and individual accounts... Andrew asks the question, given where America has come in the last 50 years, what does America look like in 2072?

Oh, and Andrew celebrates William and Mary football and offers thoughts on the 50th Anniversary of "Free to Be, You and Me".

After being off for Thanksgiving, Andrew and Jerry recap their holidays.  Congress passes the Respect for Marriage Act, but does the act really?  What are the goals at work, and what's going to be the end result--is this yet another example of Democrat/Progressive 3D chess.  A partner at one of the world's largest law firms is fired (after nearly a half-century of practicing law) for voicing her opinions on abortion and the Dobbs decision.  Princeton is debating removing the statue of the Reverend John Witherspoon, a founding father and signer of the Declaration of Independence - and all of these issues are tied together.  Jerry talks about the deification of young people--and Andrew once again makes the case for moving voting age back to 21.

Plus, the laziness of the Press.  Karin Jean Pierre lies to the WH Press Corps about President Biden visiting the Border, but there's no follow up or outrage.  And little reporting on the story of 5 cars rented by the Secret Service for the First Family's Thanksgiving trip to Nantucket mysteriously catching on fire.

Then, Jerry and Andrew talk about the Christmas holiday.  What's their stance on business parties?  What movies/tv shows/songs capture the holiday spirit for both of them?  What are they doing regarding trees... and just what does the holiday season mean for both of them?

The 2022 midterms are over (or are they?), and it looks like the GOP has taken the US House of Representatives.  What does this mean for Republicans moving forward, and how can this position them for the 2024 Presidential cycle and beyond?  Andrew and Jerry talk about what went wrong for Republicans (and what went right), what motivated voters at the polls.  Plus, Donald Trump announced his 2024 presidential run.  How does this factor into the calculus?  Why does it look like Democrats and the leftist press are propping up Trump?  Andrew and Jerry offer ideas as to how to minimize Trump's impact moving forward.

Then, Congress has picked up the Respect for Marriage Act, and there are a lot of myths floating around.  Andrew and Jerry dispel those myths, talk about the dangers of the RMA, and what Congress really could do if it wanted to preserve gay marriage.

Finally, missiles hit Poland, and the world went a bit crazy earlier this week.  Andrew walks through just what would have happened had these been Russian missiles, and Jerry talks about what the US needs to do to help Ukraine moving forward.

It was election night in the United States, and Andrew & Jerry did a rare LIVE appearance. Joined by David Safavian from CPAC (as well as ACU, the American Conservative Union), they watched the early returns start to come in and talked about the overall national mood.  Was it going to be a tsunami, a red wave, or merely a trickle?  They discuss the various Election Day SNAFUs, races to look out for, and should the GOP take control of Congress, what this means moving forward.  What do the midterms mean for both parties going into 2024--will Biden be the Democrats' nominee? What will Donald Trump do, depending on the outcome?  And Jerry is convinced that HE knows who the Democrats WILL nominate in 2024.

They also talked with David about the role CPAC plays in all this--and how CPAC and ACU are working to address conservatives' grassroots priorities.
