For much of the night, José Soriano matched one of baseball's best in Jacob deGrom, giving the Angels every opportunity to compete in what looked like a pitcher's duel. But when the bats went silent yet again, the game slipped away. Then Sam Bachman entered and the Rangers blew the game wide open, turning a close contest into another frustrating defeat.

At some point, this stops being about talent. This team looks like it has no urgency, no emotion, and no identity. The clubhouse appears flat, the energy is gone, and the Angels continue to find new ways to lose as the season spirals further out of control.
