  • To the Angel of the Church in Sardis
In Revelation 3:1-6, Jesus addresses the church in Sardis with one of the most sobering warnings given to any of the seven churches: "You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead." Sardis had become spiritually complacent, maintaining an outward appearance of life while lacking genuine spiritual vitality. Christ calls this church—and every church and believer today—to wake up, strengthen what remains, remember the gospel, keep His Word, and repent. Yet even in the midst of severe rebuke, Christ promises to preserve His faithful people, clothing them in white garments and confessing their names before the Father. This message challenges us to examine what lies beneath our outward religious appearance, to reject spiritual complacency and worldliness, and to remain watchful and faithful through the power of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, the church must not ask what the world thinks of her, but what Jesus Christ sees.

  • Spiritual War
How do we think about angels in the world today? This sermon explores Daniel chapter 10 to illuminate the reality of spiritual warfare and its intersection with global politics. The preacher warns against two extremes: attributing all sin to demonic influence or ignoring the spiritual realm entirely, urging believers to maintain a balanced view of personal responsibility and divine power. By examining the vision of the glorious messenger and the conflict with the prince of Persia, the text highlights God's sovereignty despite apparent delays in His plans. The message emphasizes that while God is holy and terrifyingly powerful, He offers profound mercy through Jesus Christ, allowing believers to stand before Him. Ultimately, Christians are called to engage in spiritual battles through prayer, Bible study, and faithful obedience in their daily lives and societal structures.

  • Rock Crushes Idol
Jerome comments in the next chapter that Nebuchadnezzar was unworthy to see the Son of God, and therefore the fourth man in the furnace must have been an angel. The great church father has it exactly backwards. Of course Nebuchadnezzar is not worthy to take the scroll, or to see the Lamb take it. That's the point, the point that is revealed to the mighty Babylonian in three different ways in three successive chapters of Daniel. He may be the king of kings, but he is not worthy. The truth of God's decree is a gift; the sight of the Son of God is a gift; the restoration of his own sanity and kingdom is a gift. None of them did he deserve — but God was pleased to reveal His Son to the destroyer of His temple. Sometimes grace is so ironic. Through Daniel, the mystery of the coming Kingdom of God is revealed to Nebuchadnezzar, in a tiny glimpse of the Lamb reading the scroll. But Nebuchadnezzar finds that he is not worthy, and only by grace can he understand that his own kingdom will be crushed and destroyed by the coming of the Kingdom of God, a kingdom all stone, all gold, all unified — and all-welcoming, should Nebuchadnezzar be willing to bow before the Lord of kings.

  • Satan Will Be Bound For A Thousand Years
Revelation 20 1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
