  • Animal Party Episode 143 Dog Breeder Pro
Deborah is delighted by this new software that simplifies breeding admin and forecasting like nothing ever before. Mauritz Hansen explains how the software evolved to include all the paperwork and the time-consuming tracking of dogs, heats, matings, and health facts replacing a very big hassle for breeders to track all the info on every dog and then maintain good records. Deborah points out that purebred dogs are vital to the world as they are needed for many finely skilled tasks we humans rely on such as seeing for the blind, detecting guns, or hunting and retrieving and that even though mutts are fantastic pets, there will always be a need for good purebred dogs.

Don’t pick a dog just on looks, since the breeds were made for special tasks, Deb advises, pick by what they were meant to do and how that suits your lifestyle. Pick a retriever or water dog If you love to be in and around water and pick a companion dog if you love to sit on the sofa! How did they get sled dogs to refuse to pay in snow for the Subaru commercial and how can you tell a purebred beagle from an imposter look-a-like? Tune in to find out.

  • Animal Party Episode 141 Listeners’ Dog Behavior Problems
First Deb Wolfe tackles the many problems of a dog called Daisy who jumps up on people, poops on the floor, wails when alone and won’t come when called. Daisy was well behaved until recently and Deb tells her owner how she can get back on track plus expands this advice to help everyone with a dog who can’t be alone, jumps on people or poops inside. Daisy also has extreme fear of the car which was alleviated completely when the owner followed Deb’s advice on a previous show to partner Daisy with a car loving dog for short happy park trips, but now Daisy won’t get in the car alone and that other dog isn’t available always.

When to free feed when not to free feed and how to help a puppy learn not to food fight, plus how to deal with a grass easting dog who has a troubled tummy. The jumping up dog is a rude creature that doesn’t get the love and attention and playtime he should so let’s teach our dogs to sit for attention especially from children and that way he can be a polite playmate that is always welcome and never scolded.
