  • Popcorn Pulse 168: Bandit Smokes
Put your ears on and grow out the porn-stache. We’ve dipped into that hazy era known as the seventies. Who better to guide us all through that wild time than Burt Reynolds? Give him a pair of smoked aviators, a classic muscle car, a song written for a film and you’ve got a movie. Thus we have the classic Smokey and the Bandit(1977). The plot is that a Texas oil baron and his son bet that Burt can’t get an order of Coors to them within twenty eight hours. Because there was once a time when that beer, now synonymous with terrible American beer, was hard to get in some …

  • Manga Pulse 463: Samwise Ninja
What’s this? I don’t know if it’s the booze or not but I’m seeing double. Two manga reviews in the same show? We take the heavy effort of picking up the books, reading them, then scrambling to get the equipment fired up and working. We might also develop some sort of opinion about them and apply a rating. Once we’ve wandered off into the weeds so far we’re finding golf balls. Tim has Ninja Slayer Kills. A manga which has a wild backstory we dig into a little within the show. The face of it is mostly straight forward. Tokyo of the future is suddenly plagued by the resurrected spirits …

  • Episode 740: Wizard Tensei: Jobless Cecil
This week on Anime Pulse we got Himalayan burgers, magical courtrooms, and technical difficulties in multiplayer. Up first is the usual IRL news as Joseph has finally moved forward in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Andrew asks us for our top wizards/mages in anime. Then in the industry news it's a solo helping from Joseph, as he wishes his digestive system was 10 years younger so he could partake of a stupid large burger. Finally in the tail end of the show the reviews wrap things up with Joseph revealing the true anime of year from 2021, and Andrew represents two separate yet equally important groups: The police, who investigate magical crime, and the district attorneys, who prosecute the wizards.

  • Manga Pulse 462: Burrito Hunting
Let’s see. Bills. Junk mail. Offers to buy a house the show doesn’t own. Vote Romney for President? How long has it been since we’ve looked at our inbox proper? Not that long because we have some requests which we address. And much quicker than we do letters to the editor for some defunct BDSM magazine we keep getting. Tim has Boruto. The sequel to Naruto that no one asked for. Set years after Naruto has gotten the spot as hokage and married Hinata. Also they have kids and the one named Boruto doesn’t want to be hokage. Also he might hate being a ninja but wants Sasuke to train …

  • Popcorn Pulse 166: Matrix Debt
Just like the Twin Galaxies we hold absolutely all the world records. Unsurprisingly they are all related to our own show. Most consecutive episodes of Popcorn Pulse? For the one hundredth and sixty sixth time it goes to us…us! Take that, podcasts which aren’t even in the running. We decided that we’d go to a modern release with Matrix Resurrections[2022]. Did you guess it would be garbage? Then pat yourself on the back for your sudden burgeoning psychic abilities or just having pattern recognition. We get into why we believe this movie isn’t worth your time even if you were pirating it. Weltall has The Debt Collector[2018]. Say you’re a …

  • Episode 737: Winter 2022 Previews #3
This week on Anime Pulse we got Joseph passing on an isekai, the philosophy behind what counts as artificial life, and a really dumb looking ad. Up first the IRL news has Joseph excited for his new iMac, and Andrew asks us what our favorite robots in anime are. Then in the industry news we got a Joseph Sandwich with rice balls between a biscuit and America, was that a bit vague? Too bad! Listen to the show to understand what we're talking about. And lastly is a return of the Gattai, as Joseph resurrects himself into a better isekai and Andrew becomes god.
