Anointing The Sick

*READY TO DOWNLOAD*This weeks show opens with two bands whose labels have always featured heavily with the podcast, black metallists Frozen Dawn from Transcending Obscurity Records and stoner punks Luger from Heavy psych sounds. To expand the mind I'm closing the show with a 14 minute spacey jam mindbender from Dead Sun and the Rising TelepathsThe unholy horde that follows includes tracks from the following awesome bands ~FROZEN DAWN..."pays earnest tribute to the classic bands such as Dissection, Necrophobic, Sacramentum and Naglfar"LUGER"Their unique blend of acid-fueled proto-doom is as sleazy as can be and they are standing where Heavy Metal and Punk are crossing swords as they preach gory exploitation and sex shockers flicks"ATOMWINTER"This album will make even the leprous headbang." ~ Deathrattle PodcastCONDENADOS"... is an incendiary mixture of 70s Heavy Rock and Proto Heavy Metal"VEILCASTE".... will enchant fans of emotive sludge (Yob, Neurosis), burly doom (Electric Wizard, Conan), and even death/gloom like Mother of Graves and Tiamat.SERMON"Turkish doom/death"SCHIZOPHRENIA" features six blistering cover songs – from Slayer, Judas Priest, Mistfits to Exodus, GBH and Morbid Angel – of course in classy SCHIZOPHRENIA manner. "PE ROTO"Destructive Portugese doom/sludge with added dissonance to the riffs for maximum aural distress." ~ Deathrattle PodcastCEREMONIAL DECAY"Founded by members of Stygian Crown, Witchaven, Noctuary, and more. FFO: Autopsy, Edge of Sanity, Dismember"WIZARD MASTER"Drug addled Italian doom"INCURSION" Harking back to metal's glory era. FFO: Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Judas Priest"HEIDRUN"Mexican desert stoner"DAILY THOMPSON"They know how to rock a psych groove, but their blend of two distinct lead vocals is where the hidden force lies."DARK SUN AND THE RISING TELEPATHS"This album was originally released as a limited to 100 copies"

Over two hours of heavy underground tunes. The show opens with a track from the new album 'Evil Summons Evil' by melodic black metallers 'Deviser' to be followed by the hard, stoner rock sounds of Blackwulf, demonstrating the diversity of the podcast. There is quite a surprise within the cast with a melodic track from guitarist Johnny O' Neil. I love my guitar music and don't really play enough of it on the show. The random pick isn't too random this week as I'm ending the show with Siena Root in preparation for their new album 'Revelation' out on 24/2/23In between, the 'cast follows the usual pattern of carniverous cacophany from ~DEVISERBLACKWULFNOTHING SACREDSEUMZEUP #5 (Doom Charts)ELDERSEERSIGNO ROJOHANDS OF ATTRITIONTANATORUNKNOWNLINTVERSKY PIGORTHODOXJOHNNY O' NEILENDORPHINS LOSTSIGN OF DEATHMEMORIAMTHE FREQSLOMORERED GULDURXOTHWARP #37 (Doom Charts)SIENA ROOT

The first Doom Charts of the year is now available to peruse https://doomcharts.com/ and five of my personal picks made the list. Here is my 'Dirty Dozen for January '23TRIBUNAL - The Weight Of Remembrance ( Doom Charts #22 )"... beguiling in its beauty, hypnotic with sinful perversion. This is pure blood funeral doom leaving most other bands of this type in its thrall." ~ Deathrattle Podcast TIDAL WAVE - Lord Knows ( Doom Charts #1 )"...riffs so lush that you’ll not only want to headbang to but also give a great big hug." ~ Deathrattle PodcastANZILLU - Ex Nihilo" whose sound is punctuated by buzz-saw guitar riffs delivered with equal amounts of dexterous shredding and pummeling anthemic brute force"NEGATIVE VORTEX - Tomb Absolute"Tomb Absolute" is a colossal slab of grim and hopeless death metal evoking bleak and pessimistic visions of a doomed future to come, and stirring with bitter reflections about mental illnesses," CONJURETH - The Parasitic Chambers"Death Metal in the ways of old."DAEVAR - Delirious Rites ( Doom Charts#16 )"...the worshipper follows the ghostly-enticing female hand molded from magical-esoteric, sphinx-voice-breath into a pleasurable-tormenting doom scenario of lead-heavy, punchy guitar riffs, deep thudding bass and elementally punching drums.~ Sunday's Heavy TunesIDLEGOD - Nightmare" Italian sludge/doom"RE-BURIED - Repulsive Nature"Death Metal USA"DREAD WITCH - Tower Of The Severed Serpent ( Doom Charts #25 )"Six tracks of skin crawling doom sludge aural abuse, crushing the megalith with riffs of gravitational force and neutronium density." ~Deathrattle PodcastFAITHXTRACTOR - Contempt For A Failed Dimension"Faithxtractor was spawned by Ash Thomas in 2005 with the sole intention of playing savage Death Metal as an assault on the pathetic meat puppet human race"TURBID NORTH - The Decline"Written during some of the bleaker periods in the band's lifespan, the album sees a darker and more aggressive sound added to the formula. "DESTRONOMER - The Two Horns ( Doom Charts #39 )"Eight tracks of fuzz laden heavy riffs and manic melodicism from this driven 3 piece from Sydney."

** Available to download**The second volume of 30 sludge tracks. Expect eye watering feedback, granite riffs and bilious vocals. It's tough to find a pure sludge album as the genre has morphed into most other extreme genres. As usual I've trodden a mostly obscure path but hopefully there is something for everyone. If you dig any of the bands, you'll find most of them lurking in bandcamp.ALLTAR - Spoils ( Hallowed ) 2019BAD MEN - Unholy Mountain (Bad Men) 2015CACUS - Dirty, Filthy, Godless (Dirty, Filthy, Godless) 2016DARK CASTLE - Growing Slow (Spirited Migration) 2009EARTHWALKER - Extinguishing False Hope (Demo) 2018FACES OF THE BOG - Drifter In The Abyss (Ego Death) 2016GALERNA - The Abyss/Najt (The Abyss) 2012HAGGATHA - Understand (IV) 2012IAMTHETHORN - Crawling Over Them (You Are The Lamb) 2017JAGGED VISION - No Peace (Harvest Earth) 2014KAA - Through The Sand (Dance Of Hunger) 2016LADYBIRD - Marble Orchard (Tombstoned) 2013MAGNATAR - Dead Swan (Crushed) 2022NUNAVUMMIUT - Tuunbaq (The Terror) 2016OBSCURE SPHINX - The Prescence Of Goddess (Void Mother) 2013PALE HORSEMAN - Afterlife (Pale Horseman)QUITTERS - Earthly Delights (Man) 2020RADIEN - Varjot (Maa) 2016S.I.D - Phosgene (City Of Chemistry) 2022TAKEN BY THE SUN - Fuse (Taken By The Sun) 2015UGLY - Betrayal - (Betrayal) 2019VAGITARIANS - Spirit Is Free (Wood) 2012WAKE OF THE BLADE - Frozen Flame (The Flesh Ephemeral) 2019YATRA - Born Into Chaos (Born Into Chaos) 2022ZHORA - Wall Of Time (Mortals) 202011 PARANOIAS - Destroying eyes ( Reliquary For A Dreamed Of World) 20167.5 TONNES OF BEARD - Shallow Man (Denied The Basics) 2013137 - In Vain (Force Controller) 200516 - Misfortune Teller (Into Dust) 20223D HOUSE OF BEEF - Triumph Of The Weak (Low Cycle) 2001
