The first Anointing The Sick show of 2024. It's a couple of days later than usual but well worth the wait! This episode 'A Pyramid Of Skulls' features albums that would have been in my best of list for 2023 if I had expanded the selection by more than twelve. The usual sections are here with Doom Chart entries, albums that you can grab NYP from Bandcamp particularly Sludgelord Records.Skulls piled high by~ORPHALISSTYGIAN FAIRMOON COVENAUGURIUMGRAVERIPPERINTENTMASHEENATHE DEATH WHEELERSOCKULTISTHERONUNRULYU.D.OCOLONY DROPINCANTATIONREDSPHEREGREY SKIES FALLENBODYDRINKERSLAGOONCHAINED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEANELBRUSPLANET OF THE 8'SSTRAIGHT HATEAnointing The Sick plays on Halo of the Goat Radio~ This show starts every Friday @ 2pm mst/3pm cst/4pm est 9pm uk listen here https://hello.citrus3.com:2020/public/haloofthegoat

DREAD WITCH ~ Serpent God (Tower Of The Severed Serpent)"Six tracks of skin crawling doom sludge aural abuse, crushing the megalith with riffs of  gravitational force and neutronium density." ~ Anointing The SickDEVISER ~ Death Is Life Eternal (Evil Summons Evil)"spiteful and giving evidence of their occult roots with a gothic twist to the sound. Evil Summons Evil is an album layered with symphonic drama and Lovcraftian hatred." ~ Anointing The SickDIVINIST ~ Warhead (Divinist)" Ominous, sludgy doom seething with evil intent. Bleak, black and sullen, the surprisingly sumptuous sound adds multitudes of layers, pitted with pained, acidic guitar leads, to the numbing, hypnotic dissonance taking root into your skull" ~ Anointing The SickCRATER ~ The Melting Point Of Drugs (Degenerate)"Chinese doom/sludge heavy enough to make your eyeballs burst and your teeth rattle out of your skull. All the warmth and moisture you normally get from standard doom riffs have been sucked out and the fuzz sandblasted away to leave an arid musical wasteland of slow, hateful tempos." ~ Anointing The SickBLAZON RITE ~ Salvage What You Can Of The Night ( Wild Rites And Ancient Songs)" It's like being aurally picked off rather than hacked to death and gives a gorgeous balance of sounding really catchy but hard hitting at the same time." ~ Anointing The SickCANNABUS ~ Come Down (The Maple Split Sessions)"It's been a while since I've heard an album as tight as The Maple Spliff Sessions, even my tinnitus broke out in an acid sweat." ~ Anointing The SickFEANNAG ~ Which of the Twain was God (Throne)"Thick, chunky, Scottish blackened death metal. Tempo's change dramatically with each song but your punishment remains merciless and extreme whatever the speed, although much of the album is mid to fast -paced giving Throne elements of doom/death here and there." ~Anointing The SickADVERSVM ~ Vindex (Vama Marga)"Riffs are carniverous with an immense bite radius ensuring Adversvm's evolving position among the top apex predators of this particular genre." ~Anointing The SickSPAWN OF EVIL ~ Storm Of All Sins ( Sadistic Missionaries)" Unyielding in its ferocity, Sadistic Missionaries overwhelms you with scything riffs and earthquake inducing rhythm sections." ~ Anointing The SickJUST BEFORE DAWN ~ We Few (A War Too Far)" A full frontal assault of Swedish death metal swathed from start to finish with incendiary riffs dripping phosphrous. With leanings toward Bolt Thrower, A War Too Far is an overwhelming assault on the senses, as merciless as it is brutal." ~Anointing The SickCEASED SUNFIRE ~ Looked Back But Couldn't See (The Divide )"Mountainous riffs and a pummelling rhythm section combine to create a tectonic shifting of  Finnish stoner sludge." ~ Anointing The SickWARCRAB ~ The Howling Silence ( The Howling Silence)"An unstoppable mix of rampaging death metal fused with thick sludge creating a morass of lawless rage." ~ Anointing The Sick
