On today's adventure, we're joined by VlordGTZ (host of many podcasts, including the New York Times recommended, Demon Slayer Podcast), as we discuss episodes 39-42 of the 1986 Dragon Ball anime! As Goku makes his way through the rest of Muscle Tower with the help of his new robot friend, Android #8 (or Eighter as he and the rest of us affectionately refer to him)! We discuss how the pacing of these episodes drag even more in places then the last batch we covered, and even wonder if these may be some of the weakest episodes of the show we've watched so far. We also ask ourselves questions like, how is a "Powered Gun" any different then a regular gun?. Could Super Saiyan Blue Goku defeat the Jiggler? Are these episodes "later-season Simpsons" bad, or are they "middle-era Family Guy" bad? Listen and find out!!

Akira Toriyama passed away recently on March 1st, 2024, and the world won't be the same without him. Colton & Sakaki have a somewhat unorganized talk in order to get their feelings out and ruminate on what Toriyama's influence meant to both the world and their friendship.
On today's adventure, we're joined by both Randy & Doug from We Gotta Podcast, as we discuss episodes 35-38 of the 1986 Dragon Ball anime! Where Goku crash lands in a snowy village and invades the nearby Red Ribbon army base located at the terrifying Muscle Tower! We discuss in particular how though the pacing of these episodes compared to the original manga material may unfortunately drag down quite a bit of the tension and comedy, they still manage to be quite enjoyable! Even with some added spiciness thanks to the English dub! You won't believe what shenanigans Murasaki might get up to while White isn't looking! Enjoy!

On today's adventure, we're once again joined by co-host of Manga Mavericks & #Lum Squad, LumRanmaYasha, as we tone our glistening bodies to perfection and talk about episodes 32-34 of the original 1986 Dragon Ball anime and continue through the Red Ribbon Army arc! We discuss some differences between the anime and manga when it comes to the build up of Colonel Silver and the depiction of General Red, and we also even discuss Sakaki's thoughts after recently watching Resurrection F at the the top of the show! Enjoy!!

On today’s adventure, we’re joined by Kendra, host of the My Hero Academia Podcast, to cover episodes 29-31 of the original 1986 Dragon Ball anime! As Goku and friends depart and go their separate ways after the 21st Martial Arts Tournament and we’re treated to our first batch of mostly anime original material meant to help viewers transition into the Red Ribbon Army arc! Join us as we talk about why Episode 29 in particular ends up rendering Nam’s entire reason for participating in the tournament to be kind of pointless, rejoice at the return of the Pilaf gang, and wonder whether that stinky homeless kid is gonna have more of a role in this arc at all?? Enjoy!!

On today's adventure, we're joined by Nate Ming, marketing manager at Copic and artist of the webcomic, Shaw City Strikers, to cover episodes 26-28 of the original 1986 Dragon Ball anime, as we finally arrive at the final match of the 21st martial arts tournament between Goku and Jackie Chun! Nate provides his perspective as both a fan of action flicks and a martial artist himself as we go through the fight and talk about why its just so awesome! What references to other martial arts films can be found in these episodes? Why are Dragon Ball's insert songs so good? And why hasn't there been an episode of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia where the gang gets into anime? All these questions answered as we round out the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai arc!!

Where Roshi’s Bankoku Bikkurisho comes from
Gold Harvest Intro
On today's adventure, Colton & Sakaki take a small break from their watch-through of the 1986 Dragon Ball anime to talk about, quite frankly, an amazing Dragon Ball fan film, directed and produced by Naseer Pasha and his crew at Stray Dog Studios, entitled Legend: A Dragon Ball Tale! A short film about a prince named Vegeta, landing on Earth to recruit the long lost golden warrior, Goku, for an upcoming war right in the middle of a fight with his future wife, Chi-Chi, at the World Martial Arts Tournament! But not before another golden warrior named Broly is able to get his licks in with the both of them! Our adventurers can't help but gush about how perfect everything about this short film is! From the music, the voice performances, and ESPECIALLY the animation! If you haven't seen Legend yet, definitely do so before listening to this episode of the podcast so you can join in on the gush-fest with them! You won't be disappointed!

On today's adventure, we invite on good friends and podcasting cohorts, LumRanmaYasha & VlordGTZ, as we discuss episodes 23-25 of the 1986 Dragon Ball anime! We continue the 21st martial arts tournament as we finish off the quarterfinals and head onto the semi-finals as Lum talks about why these episodes are so much fun, as well as highlighting some moments from the English dub! Meanwhile, Vlord talks about how cool Namu is while also acknowledging that Toriyama's Indian representation (as well as some of his other POC characters) could use a little work. So sit back, grab a glass of milk and watch Jackie put on a show! A martial artists' life is the only life for me!!
