Welcome to this daily devotional podcast — Another Day in His Steps.
Today’s Word is from Leviticus 4 — where God gives instructions about the sin offering.
This offering wasn’t about thankfulness or celebration. It was about atonement. It was God's provision for the unintentional sins of His people — whether committed by a priest, a leader, or an ordinary person.
It reminded Israel of a sobering truth: Sin matters. Even when it’s accidental, it still creates distance.
And that distance could only be closed by blood.
The sinner would bring a spotless animal, lay hands on it — transferring guilt — and then watch it die. The priest would sprinkle the blood, burn the fat, and atonement would be made.
Why?
Because God is holy. And holiness cannot ignore sin.
But God is also merciful — and so He made a way.
That way… pointed to Jesus.
Today, we don’t bring lambs or bulls. We bring our hearts to the Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world.
Jesus is our sin offering — not just for mistakes, but for all our rebellion, selfishness, and shame.
He didn’t die for sins He committed — He died for ours.
He bore our guilt, not accidentally, but willingly.
Let this Word speak deeply:
Your sin is serious — but God’s mercy is greater.
And because of Jesus, you don’t have to carry your guilt.
You can be forgiven. Clean. Free.
At the cross, justice met mercy — and mercy won.
The blood has been shed. The price has been paid.
Jesus is your perfect sin offering.
