Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage — not much else went wrong in a big 28-3 win over the Houston Texans on Saturday. The offense ran for over 200 yards while the defense held Houston to just 32 yards on the ground — tune in for 10 things we learned from Miami's win in Week 2 of the preseason.

New Miami Dolphins coach Vic Fangio had the perfect gameplan as the Houston Texans were held to just three points on Saturday afternoon. First-round pick C.J. Stroud and Houston's passing attack was limited to just 154 passing yards. Dameon Pierce and Houston's group of running backs closed the game with just 32 rushing yards on 14 attempts.
David Long Jr. made his Miami debut and landed a big hit in his limited action. 2022 third-round draft pick Channing Tindall had himself another big game after 10 tackles against the Atlanta Falcons last week. He carried his momentum to the tune of a run stop and zero receptions on two targets.
The Dolphins made Fangio the league's highest-paid defensive coordinator — a strong showing from the team's group of running backs is a positive sign of things to come throughout the 2023 season.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception to begin Saturday's preseason game against the Houston Texans but the fourth-year quarterback had a strong performance overall in his first live action since Dec. 25, 2022. Houston's Denzel Perryman intercepted Tagovailoa, who finished the day 5-7 for 61 yards.
The former Alabama standout quarterback looked comfortable during a 93-yard drive that closed with a touchdown from Raheem Mostert. Coach Mike McDaniel was determined to run the football and closed the game with 205 rushing yards. That said, the Dolphins saw some good things from Tagovailoa and second-year player Skylar Thompson. Was this officially Miami's dress rehearsal or could we see Tagovailoa on the field next week?

The Miami Dolphins had a big scare on Thursday afternoon as left tackle Terron Armstead was rolled up on and had to be carted off the field during joint practices with the Houston Texans. Armstead, Miami's top offensive lineman, has battled injury throughout his career and played 13 games with the Dolphins last season.
Night-to-day was the improvement we saw in Miami's offensive line when Armstead is on the field -- making him critical to any playoff hopes the Dolphins may have. That being said, both Armstead and beat reporters around the league said that surgery wouldn't be necessary and Armstead is battling to be ready Week 1 of the regular season.
How will the Dolphins react to this injury? Will Armstead be bubble-wrapped for the rest of the preseason while Kendall Lamm takes most of the snaps at left tackle, or will Miami search the waiver wire for free agents that could help?

The Miami Dolphins dropped the year's first preseason game to the Atlanta Falcons last week but hope to turn the page against the Houston Texans this weekend.
Ahead of Saturday's game, the Dolphins and Texans gathered for two days of joint practices in Houston. Injuries are piling up for the Dolphins — when can we expect to see Kader Kohou and Cam Smith back on the field? Is it possible that Liam Eichenberg has lost his job at left guard with the emergence of Robert Jones and Lester Cotten?
The second half of the show is focused on the biggest matchups in Saturday's game, where we should get some clarity on Miami's plan at wide receiver and running back before debating a big question — will Myles Gaskin or Robbie Chosen have a larger impact in 2023?

Tua Tagovailoa and the rest of Miami's starters are slated to play in Houston on Saturday — but we're not entirely sure who all those players could be. Robert Jones, Lester Cotton, and Isaiah Wynn are all having strong camps -- what could the Dolphins do with the offensive line?
River Cracraft and Cedrick Wilson Jr. logged the most snaps among Miami wide receivers but we know what to expect from those players. Week 2 of the preseason is a chance to see who is pushing for the No. 3 roster spot — could last year's fourth-round pick be picking up steam?
Roster battles at running back, offensive line, tight end. safety, linebacker, and special teams (!!!) are also discussed.

The Miami Dolphins are making the most of the preseason with joint practices in back-to-back weeks. The Dolphins hosted the Atlanta Falcons last weekend before traveling to Houston to work with the Texans ahead of Saturday's game.
It was an eventful day of practice in Texas we received injury updates on Kader Kohou, Cam Smith, and Jaylen Waddle -- when can we expect the Dolphins to inch closer to full health?
News broke on Wednesday that former first-round pick Christian Wilkins isn't participating in drills as he works towards a new contract with the franchise -- what did cornerback Xavien Howard, who went through a similar scenario, have to say about the situation?
