Episode 010, bit low energy this one. We talk about stuff like melodyne and some other stuff, and we talk about Steven Slate as a telepathic demon that makes you do real bad stuff, and also the greatest synth of all time ANA 2. I should probably make a note of the stuff we talk about so I can actually put it in these show notes but I forget and then I'd have to relisten to the whole episode so you know, probably not gonna happen. That's life though innit? Welcome to the real world.

Episode 008 and I'm already sick of writing up these notes.

This week we were joined by music producer, songwriter, topliner/library music extraordinaire and all round bad dude Dan Knight. He talks about library music and quinoa and drops some essential knowledge.

We also talk about all the other usual stupid shit and shout nonsense a lot as usual and do the cop alarm and all that. Just listen to it alright and follow Dan on Instagram @zazzmatics I'm tired

We spent months trying to get in touch with legendary record producer / engineer / recording guy Steve Albini for an interview, and we couldn't believe it when he got back to us and agreed. However, we decided to mix it up this week and let Steve take over the podcast entirely for one episode and just do all the talking.

Steve Albini needs no introduction, a few of his credits include Nirvana, The Pixies, PJ Harvey, Robert Plant, Jimmy Paige, Jarvis Cocker... the list goes on. He also has a unique approach to recording and view to the role of producer and making a record. In this episode there's no news, no tips from us, no cop alarm - just Steve giving us extreme insight into his methods, his story and his take on making records.

This week we were joined by Ed Chivers aka Spooky Mr Shivers The Bone Daddy of Rock 'n' Roll aka Synth Guru aka The Ableton Wizard, who is half of the band AK/DK and also a member of the band Fujiya & Miyagi. He talks us through recording his latest AK/DK album Shared Particles, walks us through his setup and drops some ancient Ableton wizard knowledge.

We also lay down some powerful news and drum centric tips and there's some big time cop alarm action. Writing these show notes is getting old already so I'm cutting it short OK?

Just go and buy AK/DK albums and stop going on about it.

This week's episode was a short format one, due to some spooky and disturbing news from a high up insider in the music technology world. We talked the Gearslutz name change to Gearspace, the new Moog Sound Studio Kit, recording your own samples with your phone, creating depth in a mix and having a tight low end.

We also discussed the TB Pro Audio MV Meter 2, Slate Digital Virtual Mix Rack / All Access Bundle, and Xfer Records' Serum. We also got harrassed by a gear reviewing Youtuber and his oscilloscope, share crap claims to fame and worryingly the cop alarm gets sounded again.

In this week's episode, instead of a guest we looked to instagram and took some questions from both listeners of the show to drop some knowledge - we reached out to legendary producer / mixer Andrew Scheps who was gracious enough to share a few tips with us. Thanks Andrew!

In the news we talked about heinous bass distortion pedals, portable tape shaped 8bit synth and motor themed audio mangling plugins. We also discuss UAD's API Vision channel strip and Fairchild 670 plugins, how to get your vocals to sit better in your mix, and how to deal with sub bass in your mixes. Kel sounds the cop alarm for the Nembrini's software take on the Vox AC30 Top Boost, and we talk sequencers.
