A prominent figure in folkloric horror, the main character of the La Llorona legend is doomed to an eternity of searching different bodies of water for her children, who met a tragic end with a watery grave. There are different versions of the narration, but the most popular portrays jealousy and revenge towards an unfaithful lover who broke her heart and in return, committed a frightening crime.
