APOLOGIES: The sound quality on this episode is... not great. It was recorded with all three of us sat around the microphone - a noble experiment that won't be repeated.
In episode 5 of Another Time, MacLeod! (09:05-10:57), Robs Wallis (Twitter: @robertmwallis) and Daniel (@rob_a_daniel) welcome Ian Bird (@mrcarapace) to discuss the movie's first Quickening. Topics of discussion also include river dancing, heavy metal album covers, and the boys club that is being a Highlander movie immortal.
Alternate episode titles: Diamond is Forever, Setting the Stall Out, Those Fucking Backflips
In episode 4 of Another Time, MacLeod! (06:45-09:05), Robs Wallis (Twitter: @robertmwallis) and Daniel (@rob_a_daniel) welcome their first guest, Sarah Johnson (@strappinglass) to discuss the continuing fight between MacLeod and Fasil. Also continuing is this pod's love letter to Highlander's stunt coordinator Peter Diamond's and inexplicable fascination with another mid-80s cult classic, Lifeforce. New elements include shoutouts to lovely Highlander fans, posing atop cars, and Rob W's theory about the backflips...
In the third episode of Another Time, MacLeod! (04:57-06:42), the Robs discuss the start of the movie's first fight sequence in the underground parking garage of Madison Square Garden. Topics of discussion include the evolution of Coke can ring-pulls, the dimensions of fish markets, the perils of sparking swords, and the marvellous career of Highlander's stunt coordinator Peter Diamond (AKA Iman Fasil).
In the second episode of Another Time, MacLeod! (02:30-04:56), Robs Wallis and Daniel delve into the opening scene of Highlander, featuring a fantastic, potentially lethal(?!) Skycam shot, an introduction to our brooding, myopic hero, and lots of wonderful extras.
NOTE: In all our excitement, we forgot to mention that the scene was shot at Meadowlands Arena in New Jersey, rather than the actual Madison Square Garden.
In the first full episode of Another Time, MacLeod! (covering 00:00-02:29 of Highlander), Robs Wallis & Daniels discuss the opening crawl (not a crawl), Sean Connery's bathroom, the best opening song of all time (minus a minor sync issue), and top-billed cast and crew, while paving the way for many, many Clancy Brown impersonations to come.
"From the dawn of time we came; moving silently down through the centuries..."
Before they begin their minute-by-minute deconstruction, Robs Wallis & Daniel (AKA The Movie Robcast) take a moment to introduce the movie Highlander, why they love it, and what inspired this endeavour.
