Welcome to season 5 of the Another Way To See It Podcast. On this episode we discuss how many of us center our trauma, and perhaps even take it on as an identity, knowingly or not. When our trauma functions in this way we limit our ability to connect deeply with others, and also limit our ability to access our full selves and engage with life as we’re meant to. This episode is an invitation to explore how trauma may function in your life and ways to renegotiate your relationship with it.

  • Summer Rerun of The Social Media Facade & Authenticity

    Send us Fan Mail

On this episode of the Another Way To See It podcast, we talk about the facades we put up on social media and in real life. The ways we curate our image and some of the ways that wearing masks affects us and others who view our content or experience us in real life. Anxiety, depression, disconnection, and more can be adverse effects of living a highly curated life, withholding the true experience of being human and flawed.

  • Reflections

    Send us Fan Mail

On this episode of the Another Way To See It podcast, we reflect on the immensity of the terrain we’ve covered in season 4. This year we’ve witnessed a contentious election, lived through the heartbreaking images of genocide, felt the Earth protest in hurricanes, floods, and fires, we resisted AI,  we looked on in disbelief as our neighbors got snatched off the streets, and so so much more. Our hearts broke open and tears fell with each new episode. There was and is so much to process, so much to feel.

In season 4 we welcomed 12 guests, each bringing their authenticity and vulnerability to our listeners. We are in deep appreciation to: Sunflower, Kate, Dre, Devon, Joëlle, Christine, Jessica, Jackie, Danielle, Kimberly, Adéllyn, and Noelle, for being role models, inspirations, and guides.

This season we lost some dear ones, teachers and friends who are now ancestors. May their work live on through us.

Andrea Gibson was an American poet and activist.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to all of you who listen, and encourage you to share an episode that touched you in some way with someone you know. We’ll be back in a few weeks with new episodes that we hope will feel like support for you in these rapidly changing times.

  • Re-Storying Your Experience

    Send us Fan Mail

On this episode of the Another Way To See It podcast, we talk about how easy it is to construct narratives for our lives that can keep us small, suffering, or disengaged with life. Building an honest context for your life, for the challenges, for the losses, for the ways you approach relationships, work, etc. is so important and, requires other bodies. We don't heal alone, and we don't heal for ourselves. We do the work of healing to be able to help other beings. "Rising tides lift all ships". Sometimes the building of honest context is painful, sometimes it’s as simple as reorienting or re-storying your life, opening the aperture, seeing a bigger picture and your place in it.

Where do you begin to find some kind of ground from which to move with the uncertainty of the times? How do you recognize what’s happening in your body as clues to what is real for you, what you need to attend to, and what you have to offer others?

  • The Impact of Your Self Loathing

    Send us Fan Mail

On this episode of the Another Way To See It podcast, we talk about the ways we notice a sense of self-loathing/hatred impacting our relationship with others, ourselves, and the current political landscape. We have a tendency to blame ourselves for the ways we are “unworthy”, hiding parts of ourselves to fit in, find safety, or align with power. Often the cruelty that we see at play in the world conceals a deep sense of self-loathing on the part of leaders across all sectors. The antidote isn’t love and light, it’s a clear view of the systems at play, radical accountability, and self-acceptance- not in the sense of “that’s just the way I am”; but in actually acknowledging that often we’re doing the best that we can with the tools in our toolbox, and that others are doing the same, putting ourselves in other’s shoes, and simply trying to be a good human.
