The Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy released the position paper, Moving Forward in 2021. This paper emphasizes the use of the best available evidence and research in the treatment of adults with acute-onset movement disorders following neurological injury. After decades of debate over the different treatment methods the ANPT Board of Directors felt it was time to provide a statement as to ANPT’s position for the membership. 

The Evidence Elevates campaign will dive deeper into how this position will change physical therapy going forward.

 In this episode, Parm talks to Mark Mañago about his recent publication in PTJ about the changing landscape of community exercise classes. Parm and Mark review the results of the study’s survey that asked exercise class participants with PD and exercise group leaders to identify facilitators and barriers to virtual and in-person class. They also discuss observed changes in activity level in the people surveyed. Parm and Mark brainstorm some real-world solutions to the barriers identified to help listeners start problem solving for their own classes and patients.

In this episode, the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy (JNPT) partners with the ANPT Stroke Special Interest Group for an interview with Amanda DeMartino conducted by host Jackie Loeshelle.
