The November '21 edition of UP! is a little funkier in the house department for the opening four tracks or so. The set kicks off with the 2K21 Remix of "So Many Times" by Taito Takiro and is followed up by the new Mark Knight remix of "Believe" by Ministers De La Funk. Great house tracks from Bauuer and Cactushead lead into some more commercial pop tracks from Kylie Minogue, Tiesto, Alex Adair and Joel Corry. eSQUIRE does a great remix of the Coldplay & BTS collaboration and Duran Duran are back with a new collaboration featuring Tove Lo. Division 4 delivers three outstanding mixes in this set. Other standout mixes come from Dirty Disco, Tommer Mizrahi and Thiago Antony who does a beautiful job on Adele's "Easy On Me". Rounding out the set is the new offering from ABBA. It's only been 40 years but their new track "Don't Shut Me Down" is given a stellar club mix from Furi Drums. This will be my last UP! podcast from Sydney. The December edition will be coming from Melbourne which is to become my new home as of December. Enjoy

The second remixer/producer in this limited 'Best Of' series is Wayne G. I can't remember exactly when I first met Wayne. I have a feeling it was back in the late 90's at either a Mardi Gras party or when he was guest DJ'ing at ARQ or The Midnight Shift in Sydney. I do remember hearing him play for the first time and making my way to the DJ booth to introduce myself (naturally). Like most of the big name international DJ/producers I have met, Wayne was very down to earth and friendly. As was the case with Division 4, it is impossible to do a best of Wayne's remixes in one episode. His style of producing has evolved so much over the years. From his early days at mega clubs like Heaven in London playing happy and hard house to his Atlantis anthems for the leisure cruise ship in the Mediterranean to his Throwback anthem/funky house sound at San Diego's Zoo Party and White Party Palm Springs and his many memorable appearances at Mardi Gras and Harbour Party here in Sydney. Wayne has mixed for some of the biggest names in the music industry and has had long established collaborations with other producers such as Andy Allder, Porl Young, Leo Frapper (LFB), Jon M. and Club Junkies. This set features some of his uplifting, house and club anthems but is only a fraction of his amazing body of work. Check him out on Soundcloud & Facebook etc and show him some love. The back end of the set moves into main room anthem territory with tracks from Ray Azuma, Ricki Ben Ari, Lil Naz X and Olivia Rodrigo. Welcome to a new limited edition series called 'Best Of'. These episodes will focus on the artists who remix and produce some of the best songs to hit the dancefloors around the world. To kick the series off, I wanted to start with Division 4 (aka Robert)  who is a good friend of mine here in Sydney. We have worked at several venues together in the pre COVID club era at events such as UP! and Rise & Shine. When I first met Rob, I fan girled over him a bit because I didn't know that he was the man behind so many of the remixes I admired. Not only does he have an uncanny ability to reconstruct popular songs from big name artists into floor filling house anthems, he is also an extremely humble and lovely man. Over the years Rob has been generous enough to share many of his remixes with me, a generosity for which I am extremely grateful. He has collaborated with other producers such as Matt Consola and Barry Harris and remixed for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and the list goes on. This second edition of Essential Justin Bieber goes in a completely different direction than the previous one. Some of these tracks appeared on the first edition but I've used mostly different songs and the remixes are very much in the electro house/big room territory. Remixers such as Afrojack, DJ Laszlo, Paulo & Jackinsky, Roberto Ferrari and Thiago Antony did not come to play around and launch this set immediately from the opening track "All Around The World" to the closing track "Baby" which kick started Justin's career. The whole reason I did these 2 collections of Justin Bieber came about because a long time friend of mine Deb, kept asking me to do it. I said to her 'don't you think you're a little old to be a Justin Bieber fan?' She then politely told me to fuck off. It's also her (something, something) birthday today - 15th of September, so I decided to release this edition on her birthday. Just so she will stop harassing me :) Happy Birthday Deb. I can honestly say that I never thought I would have done an Essential mix for Justin Bieber. When he first burst onto the music scene as a 14 year old or whatever age he was, it was safe to say that I wasn't his target audience. But I have to say that as Justin has grown and matured, so has his music. It was virtually impossible to do a chronological playlist of his hits because the remixes are so varied and not always released at the same time as the actual single release. He also has a prolific history of collaborating with a wide range of artists and producers which I think has played a big role in his own musical evolution. When I saw his good natured response to his Comedy Central Roast a few years back, I thought yeah, this kid is cool. This first episode has a more commercial house feel to it. The next edition will open up to a more big room feel. Now that I am apparently a 'Belieber', I hope you can do your own conversion therapy with Essential Justin Bieber part 1. Enjoy

The August '21 edition of UP! is jam packed with vocal house and club anthems. The final month of summer in the north and winter in the south (Hooray - I hate winter), are fare welled with some uplifting, melodic tracks from artists such as Jessie Ware, Marcella Detroit, Kelli-Leigh, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran and the Jonas Brothers to name a few. 7th Heaven and Dirty Disco feature two excellent remixes each and Dario Xavier shows out with a different sound for him on the Jonas Brothers "Remember This". Junior Jack's classic "Stupidisco" is given the updated treatment from Deeperlove and it's great to hear new music from Marcella Detroit. The set closes out with some thumping club mixes from Luis Vazquez and Thiago Antony for OXA and Ava Max respectively. As Sydney enters yet another month of Covid lockdown (because idiots won't follow the rules) at least the August '21 edition of UP! will give you something to tap your toes to at home. Enjoy

The July 2021 edition of UP! was supposed to be ready for the American 4th of July long weekend but I dropped the ball on this one - apologies. This edition kicks off with some strong house tracks from Cedric Gervais, Mark Knight and Christina Grimmie. Dirty Disco feature three outstanding remixes in this set for Katy Perry, P!nk and Ani respectively. Ralphi Rosario and Craig J Snyder have teamed up to form The Shamanic and their first track "Fire" is excellent. Australian DJ/Producer Dan Slater delivers an uplifting collaboration with vocalist Alan Gendreau and I've even included an awesome Thiago Antony remix of the Biebster's "Hold On". Jose Spinnin' Cortez covers the Tina Cousins track "Pray" and the set rounds out with a great Dario Xavier remix of "Hero" by Afrojack and David Guetta. A belated Happy Independence Day to my American friends and Happy Wednesday (release day) to other friends around the world. Enjoy
