The field of the slothful tells of King Solomon's observation, interpretaion and application of one, Mr. Slothful. He was a lazy-bones. We can become lazy concerning the vineyard of our hearts. We must protect our heart, maintain our hearts and work at our relationship with Jesus. Beware of the -little foxes,- the little sins that can spoil you. You don't want to waste your life, do you-

Is Jesus Christ a part of your daily life- Do you go hours, days and even weeks without thinking of him- Are you really a disciple of Christ if this is the case- Christ should be in all our ways, in all our thoughts and in all our plans.

The process of discipleship is a process of growth. As we are fed by the teaching ministry of a pastor, we grow in our faith and we mature. We follow Jesus and the apostles by following their teachings. The Holy Spirit guides us each day and gives us mature Christian men and women who provide a godly example of what our relationship with Jesus should look like.

Now what do I do- Have you been asked to give a devotional for a church event, to speak at a wedding or to give your personal testimoy- Most people are afraid to speak publically, so I offer a simple plan to follow as you are preparing.

Ruth is blessed for doing things God's way which is still the best way. Her roles in order of priority are- Child of God, Wife, Mother, Daughter-In-Law, Friend, etc. When we keep our roles in the right order our lives are balanced and healthy.

There is only one worthy motive for Christian living, service and worship. We must examine ourselves and check our motives carefully.

The truth of the gospel is that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ apart from any meritorious works. If you can earn it, then why did he die- Throw yourself entirely upon Christ for salvation.

Our Lord dealt with three candidates for discipleship in this passage. The first one had eyes for this world, the second did not have eyes of faith and the last one was looking back at his past. Will you follow Christ and keep your eyes on him-

Did you know that the New Testament doctrine of eternal security was prophesied in the Psalms- The security of the believer is wrapped up in a covenant promise from the Father to His Son.

It is clear that the world despises the church. This really doesn't surprise us. But we don't expect church goers to despise the church and forsake our gathering. Yet, this is happening all over the US.
