It was an absolute privilege to write music and sound for Elana-Marie Snyman's beautiful puppet theatre production based on the famous fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen:
The year is 2049 and a young girl roams the quiet and windy streets. She's selling matches to ward off the cold and the loadshedding. Her slippers are worn through, and she's wearing her grandma's old Covid-48 mask. Ocean levels have risen dramatically, but she doesn't mind -- Johannesburg looks nicer as a coastal town. Tonight is Christmas, but it's so very cold and it's too windy to keep her matches lit.
