This year, I found myself in the darkest pit of depression that I’ve ever experienced before. Even saying that, I feel shame. But it has to be said because it’s true. It’s real… And it’s happening to so many people. But it wasn’t the physical part that was so hard. It was the mental fall that almost destroyed me. I was mentally deteriorating, not knowing if or when I would ever feel good again. I almost lost all hope…

So the other day I had an anxiety spiral. You know, the thing where you get one thought and then, you’re suddenly going down a rabbit hole of thoughts? It’s very similar to when you get an idea or see something online and then go down a rabbit hole of research. The only difference is that you’re falling down this never ending hole of anxious thoughts that feed off of one another and grow bigger and bigger the further down the hole you fall. Well, I decided to talk about it on this episode.

There was a study done by Harvard Medical School and they found that emotional and physical unhealed past trauma triggers can make a person more prone to having serious health conditions. This includes heart attacks, stroke, obesity, diabetes and cancer. Now, that's not to say that everyone with anxiety or trauma will come down with these things, but it's definitely something to pay attention to.

Messy homes and work spaces leave you feeling anxious, unmotivated, distracted and overwhelmed. Yet, rarely is mess and clutter recognized as a significant source of stress in our lives. But it is.
Studies found that mess and clutter can increase physiological responses, including increasing your levels of cortisol, which is your stress hormone. This is important to know because even if you don’t think you’re affected by a messy environment, you are on a hormonal level and the more cortisol you have, the higher your stress and anxiety will be.
The studies also found that negative effects on mental health due to mess and clutter particularly impact women. So ladies, listen up and men, start cleaning up for our sake.
