This special episode features the return of SpendMend’s Tom Flynn to talk about a serious problem that occurs in both our schools and in the workplace. The talk begins with Tom describing the anti-bullying project he is involved with, Project Cornerstone. He talks about its tenants and his work with the group. He also provided some tips for organizations wanting to emulate Project Cornerstone’s success and the names of several other groups that did similar work.

He also talked about what shapes a bully and why it is important to understand their motivation. This proved pivotal when trying to understand adult bullies.

The discussion then moved onto bullying in the workplace and a discussion of toxic work environments. In many ways, the situation of a grade-schooler and that of an employee have similar characteristics.  Once again, recognizing the behavior is the first step. Alas, in the workplace, management’s actions play a pivotal role. Those wishing to only listen to the portion about workplace bullying can fast forward to the midpoint of the podcast.

The podcast closes with Tom offering a few tips for those whose children are being bullied.
