This is so I can remember this story not you. ...We usually ride the school bus home because some of us lived 4 miles away from the school. This particular day we decided to walk home because we got out of school early. It was a half day. Every time we walked home we liked to walk around the campus of this other big high school that we had to pass to get home. This high school is on the busiest street in the city. There is an overpass for the kids to use to get across the street. Non students had to risk their lives. We didn't even attempt to use the overpass for some reason. It actually was easy for all of us but two to get across the street. There were 5 of us in all. 3 of us made it across, but the other 2 were in the street arguing over a stick. Stick isn't slang for anything, I mean they were arguing over a stick from a tree. As they wrestled over a stick, one of them got hit by a SUV. It broke his leg and knocked him right out of his shoes. I don't think the woman that hit him got into trouble because we didn't cross at a crosswalk and they were playing in the street with a stick. Two weird things I remember is that, the guy that got hit was more concerned about his shoes then his injuries initially. Must have been the shock. The other thing is we told his brother to call 911 and he asked what was the number? Every since that day I'm paranoid about crossing big streets. The guy that got hit only broke his leg, no other injuries.
