An important name among the post Premchand novelists, Jainendra Kumar was known for his psychoanalytic writing. He had the ability to discover hidden meanings and subtle signals in everyday conversations. He wove his observations skillfully into his characters’ lives in a way that their psychological and philosophical state of mind took precedence over the plot of the story. 

प्रेमचंद के बाद के उपन्यासकारों में एक महत्वपूर्ण नाम जैनेंद्र कुमार का है। उनको उनके मनोविश्लेषणात्मक लेखन के लिए जाना जाता है। उनमें रोज़मर्रा की बातचीत में छिपे अर्थ और सूक्ष्म संकेतों को खोजने की क्षमता थी। उन्होंने अपने अवलोकनों को अपने पात्रों के जीवन में इस तरह से पिरोया कि उनकी मनोवैज्ञानिक और दार्शनिक मनःस्थिति कहानी के कथानक से ज़्यादा महत्वपूर्ण हो जाती है और पढ़ने वाले को आत्मचिंतन की ओर ले जाती है।
