Thom and I go back about 18 years.  I recorded his first album with one of his first bands called ‘the Carnations’.  We’ve been good friends ever since.  Thom has always been into making music and can pretty much write any type of song you want.  When Thom joined the band ‘All Systems Go’ [John Kastner and Mark Arnold], He wrote about 8 songs that fit perfectly with the musical style of the band.  Pretty impressive stuff!!

We sat down at his recording studio and talked about music, what it’s like to be good at music and school.  It was a good time.  Thanks Thom for the conversation!!

Orsi and Alex both are professional musicians that play in the GTA consistently as part of a group called ‘Wellington Music’.  This ensemble  plays in many configurations.  ‘Guitar Guys’ is a new project that Alex and Orsi and a guitar player [not present for the interview, otherwise I would know his name] are teamed up and ready to make popular hit music and give it a classical twist.  This is a neat concept that speaks to both pop music fans and classical purists alike.

The real McKenzies are a band known for having a good time.. Even though there’s been over 100 members in the band!! Paul McKenzie started the band way back in 1992.  The band taps into keltic music and blends it with punk rock.  Always something to say, we speak a bit about their new album ‘Rats in the Burlap’ (Released on Stomp Records in Canada and Fat Wreck-Chords everywhere else).  We talk about touring, cars, heart attacks and the basque region of Spain.

Kyle and I go way back.  We first met when his band at the time ‘Closet Monster’ came to record at my studio in the late 90’s.  He also came into the studio with his other band ‘Claptrap’.  Kyle was the first drummer in my band [Four Square] we played some shows in Ajax Ontario when we were called ‘Doug’.  Kyle and I spoke at length about how we met, the music industry and some other things.
