Matt will guide us through these challenges and how Bongo is tackling them, in particular how one can handle low-end android devices that do not support the latest video codecs. One thing that surprised us is the fact that Bongo resorts to P2P technology to manage the large volume of traffic that stems from main lifestreaming events. This week we had the pleasure of having Senthil Padmanabhan, VP and Technical Fellow at eBay, where he leads the user experience and developer activity engineering. 
In this episode, Senthil shares with us why he started "Speed" and its goal of significantly improving the performance of eBay's, both mobile web and native applications. Senthil will also share some lessons about the work they are doing at eBay, what metrics should we consider as more important when the goal is to improve our app performance, and then takes us through a journey of tons of minor optimizations that, when put together, can have very significant results on performance and overall user experience.

This week we had the pleasure of having Mark Finkle from Tumblr with us, sharing his holistic view on performance approach, and the relevance of framing it from a UX standpoint. That’s why real-user monitoring (RUM) is fundamental to understand what users are experiencing.

Mark then takes us to some performance challenges he has seen at Tumblr and shares a few techniques they are using, for example playing with image and GIF formats for optimal performance.
