About the CA$H FOR COLOR Program
Run by stallion owners for the pure purpose of giving back to breeders and exhibitors of color horses, CA$H FOR COLOR is a program with the substance, planning and experience to have lasting impact on the industry. Appaloosa, Buckskin, Paint, Pinto, Palomino and Roan stallions with full color registration in one of the respective color breeds are eligible for the program.
Michelle Johnston, the founder of the program working with another stallion owner Kate Joos, DVM, are determined to better the color horse industry. “The mission of this program is to provide a platform to promote Color Breeds and incentivize breeding to enrolled stallions. Our goal is to provide a program which showcases breeders and enthusiasts. Participants will have the opportunity to earn CA$H and prizes while having fun with their families, friends and horses, all in an effort to encourage, strengthen and promote the future of the Color Breeds and the horse industry as a whole.”
“As Stallion Owners, we will run this program with full transparency and integrity.” Explains Michelle who is grateful for the help of fellow equestrian Karla Jones who helps with the Social Media updates and Sponsorships for the program. Karla is also assisting with all the paperwork and behind the scenes administrative duties required to run the program. “Results and payouts will be published, and financial statements will be available to the owners of enrolled stallions. We will work tirelessly to maintain the honor and reputation of this program and the stallions enrolled.”
Stallion services are available for purchase now on the CA$H FOR COLOR Facebook page. Each stallion is sold for 50% of his advertised stud fee plus a $100 admin fee. This is a great opportunity to buy your color breeding at a discount while supporting this new program determined to give back to the color horses.

Jim Hollis has been a member of the ApHC for almost 20 years involving himself in many areas of the industry. He has had a chance to breed, raise, and show several World and National Champions.
He also met one-on-one with the membership as he organized
shows, futurities, and tack swaps. Most importantly, through his many endeavors has developed a FAMILY that shares one thing in common, the APPALOOSA.
He beileves that it is time to step into another area of the organization to
use his background and talents and make a difference for the ApHC. His education in Non-profit Management and Organizational Leadership will prove to be one of his biggest assets, along with his drive for growth and communication with others.
He looks forward to using his skills, experience, and passion for the
industry to further the success of both the membership and the future of the
organization.

Victory Therapy Center's Horses 4 Heroes provides equine-facilitated therapeutic riding to meet the needs and improve the lives of military veterans and their families. Horses 4 Heroes utilizes the relationship clients form with horses to address many of the challenges that arise for veterans who have suffered trauma in the line of duty, helping them to adjust physically and emotionally to their post-war lives.
Prior to each session, we enjoy a group lunch where friendships are made among our heroes. This is a great opportunity to share stories and experiences with brothers and sisters. We take pride in serving those that served.

This week I am at the 2022 NSBA World Show to participate in the Heros on Horses presentation. I sit down with the Founder of The Right Path Riding Academy Leslie Kirkland and one of disabled veterans, Cindy Martin, that participates in the program.
The Right Path’s mission is to empower people with disabilities and challenges to reach for their highest potential with the help of a horse.
The Right Path is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and PATH Intl. premier accredited organization. To provide the highest quality services, our instructors are trained and certified with PATH Intl. We are advised by a board of directors, consisting of local businessmen and community leaders. As a ministry, generous gifts and grants from foundations, businesses, and individuals allow us to provide our services at zero cost to our participants. The Right Path was founded by Leslie Kirkland in 1996. Leslie’s unique perspective as a healthcare professional and as a person living with multiple sclerosis provides passionate leadership to the program’s volunteers and participants.
The Ocker family joined as staff in 2013 and oversaw operations until Fall 2020. Their vision, service, and commitment led to incredible growth in our organization.

ARTURO MAESTAS started riding at a young age on the hunter/jumper circuit after multiple successful years he then moved into the AQHA, APHA, and ApHC circuits, working with many talents to learn and operate his own training business. His love for coaching and training has been extraordinary to many youth and amateurs throughout.
Starting Maestas Show Horses in 2000 he has won multiple World Champions his first being 2003 ApHC World Champion Junior Trail on an all-time favorite A Big Spender. Arturo finds much joy in pairing horse and rider while coaching them into a victorious team. His admirable personality finds him easily understood when giving clinics or lessons, along with any age and temperament horse.
