Appeal to Ignorance

Listen Later

Understand the 'Appeal to Ignorance'—claiming something is true because it hasn't been proven false. Seek evidence. 🧠🔬 #AppealToIgnorance #MentalModels #CriticalThinking #Skepticism #EvidenceBased

The appeal to ignorance fallacy occurs when an argument is based on the absence of evidence, either for or against a claim. In other words, it asserts that because something has not been proven false, it must be true, or vice versa. However, the lack of evidence does not necessarily prove or disprove a claim.
