Jason Howell and Megan Morrone talk to Dave Gershgorn of Quartz about a secret meeting that Apple held to discuss artificial and machine learning research. Apple is typically secretive about most of what goes on behind closed Cupertino doors, but now that Russ Salakhutdinov (formerly of Carnegie Mellon) is the head of machine learning at Apple, this could change. Gershgorn looked at slides from the meeting and talked to unnamed sources.
