I have come here to chew bubblegum and to reclaim literature from the passionless politically obsessed ghouls of academia--and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Stephen Crane is best remembered for The Red Badge of Courage, but his poem "In the Desert" is possibly my favorite of his works. Enduringly creepy and unnerving, it also conceals a deep look into human nature and, I further contend, into the descent of human consciousness.

Windblown World is an excellent book: https://www.amazon.com/Windblown-World-Journals-Kerouac-1947-1954/dp/0670033413/

The events discussed in "Murder of a City, Tacoma," are fascinating on their face. I also think they may have tied into one a great, secret persuasion war that raged across the United States in the late 1960s (and perhaps STILL rages).

Literature and mysticism, oh my. I was excited to come across passages about the great mystic G.I. Gurdjieff in "Windblown World: The Journals of Jack Kerouac 1947-1954."

Christopher McIntosh is back to talk about his latest book, "Occult Germany." Chris is a prolific author who earned a doctorate in history from Oxford University. He also owns degrees in German and Russian. Born in Britain, he's lived in Germany for the last 30+ years, so "Occult Germany" has an emotional energy to it that, perhaps, some of Chris' other scholar works do not.
