Today we are talking about one of the most widely grown “heirloom apples”, the Rome, Red Rome, or Rome Beauty apple. Even thought it’s widely grown, it is become harder and harder to find. This apple is being replaced with apples that stay crispy longer.
Have you had a Rome apple before? It makes for a great baking apple. I don’t think that grocery store nowadays are concerned with stocking apples that are good for baking. It’s that crispy, eating apple that is what are most popular.
