Pink Lady, the trademarked name for Cripps Pink, is an apple variety that is among the top 10 most sold apples in the United States. But it is not originally from here. The apple got it’s start in Australia. Today’s podcast episode will fill you in on all the details.

Today we are talking about one of the most widely grown “heirloom apples”, the Rome, Red Rome, or Rome Beauty apple. Even thought it’s widely grown, it is become harder and harder to find. This apple is being replaced with apples that stay crispy longer.

Have you had a Rome apple before? It makes for a great baking apple. I don’t think that grocery store nowadays are concerned with stocking apples that are good for baking. It’s that crispy, eating apple that is what are most popular.

Most of the time I like to talk about old, heirloom apples on the podcast, but today I wanted to share with you about the short history of a newer apple variety that originated from Honeycrisp - the Sugar Bee. This apple is a sweet & crispy apple lovers dream.

Apples come in all different shapes, colors, and sizes! The apple I am talking about today is unique in size as they are only 2 inches in diameter. The Lady Apple is a small apple that people love to decorate with and are ones you see in photos in and around a turkey!

The apple is more on the sweet side with some tartness to it. It can range in flavor to pleasant to bland. Most of that flavor comes to you in the skin.

If you are at all a fan of the McIntosh apple, then you must listen to today’s episode and learn about one of it’s offspring the Macoun apple. This sweet-tart apple has incredible flavor if you get them at the exact right time, which timing is the biggest issue with this apple variety.
