1987: it was reported that hospitals were facing closure threats following recommendationby a top health committee to cut 1600 acute beds for patients who need urgent care.

1998: The army bomb disposal unit was called to a home when a 9 year old girl found a hand grenade in a deilvery of topsoil.

2003 - County Tipperary has the third highest number of drivers on six penalty points according to the latest statistics released by the Department of Transport. A total of 518 drivers in North Tipperary and 679 drivers in South Tipperary were penalised under this system. Seventeen drivers in North Tipperary are on four penalty points, and one driver is on six points. In South Tipperary, 15 drivers are on four points and three are on six penalty points. 

 2007 - Sixteen Tipperary Gardai were amongst the 249 who graduated from training college in Templemore. They will take up their posts across Ireland. It was Minister Lenihan's first graduation ceremony in the Templemore facility.
