1996 - There were calls for the roof to be restored on the Rock of Cashel. Historic events such as the beginning of a new century should be marked by a major contribution to preserve our rich cultural heritage. The Rock of Cashel, the ancient seat of the Kings of Munster and best known of all our ancient monuments, must surely be the ideal site on which to mark the beginning of the 21st century. 

2002- NENAGH gardai seized a large quantity of drugs following a swoop on a number of buses ferrying music fans to the Creamfields Dance Festival at Punchestown. Upward of ten gardai stopped the convoy of buses outside the village of Toomevara and searched all passengers under the Misuse of Drugs Act. A spokesperson for Nenagh Gardai said over 250 ecstasy tablets were recovered along with a large quantity of cannabis.
