I 1978 fuair na marthanóir agus na daoine gaoil de na daoine a fuair bás ón Miami Showband timpeall 37 míle punt mar chúiteamh.

I 2012 tháinig sé amach go mbeadh na comhairle baile chun deireadh a chuir leo chomh maith leis an chomhairle I gCluain Mheala de bharr go raibh athrú mór ag tarlú sa chóras údarás áitiúil agus go mbeadh an chontae seo chun fulaing an chuid is mó de bharr Phil Hogan. Bhí 78 duine chun a bpost a cailleadh agus bhí an chuid is mó acu sa chontae seo. Bhí daoine ag rá go raibh sé chun airgid a shábháil in ionad athchóiriú.

1978: the survivors and relatives of 2 killed members of the Miami Showband were granted £37,816.74 compensation.

2006: Taxpayers will have to fork out at least €1.4bn to pay for the metro to dublin airport.

2007 - Over 50 staff at Nenagh Hospital looked set to lose their jobs in a severe budget-balancing move by management of the National Health Executive. HSE management revealed that the hospital has overshot its maximum staff numbers by 53 and a projected €2.9 million overshoot in the hospital budget will be tackled by the removal of unapproved staff. 

2012 - THE six Town Councils in County Tipperary were to be abolished along with Clonmel Borough Council in the most radical shakeup to the local authority system in Ireland, with the Premier County to suffer more than most at the hands of Environment Minister Phil Hogan. 78 public representatives, 2 in every 3 of those in Tipp would be lost to the county in the move, which has been criticised as a cost-saving, rather than reforming, measure.

Onto music news on this day In 1978 The Police made their US debut at C.B.G.B.S, New York. The trio had flown on low cost tickets with Laker Airtrain from the UK, carrying their instruments as hand luggage.

1984 Wham! started a three week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Freedom', the duo's second No.1. The song was used in a Japanese commercial for Maxell audio cassettes, with altered lyrics.

And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – rapper Snoop Dogg was born in America in 1971 and singer Jess Glynn was born in the UK on this day in 1989 and this is one of her songs.
