As we begin 2026 it seems the perfect time to give some serious thought to our priorities.

Isn’t it interesting that history is divided into BC and AD? I’m sure we all know that AD is an abbreviated form of the Latin “Anno Domini” which translates “year of the Lord”.

So since this is the beginning of the “year of the Lord”, it seems appropriate to determine His priorities for those of us who are followers of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Instead of making our own New Year’s resolutions, let us just make His priority our resolution for 2026 AD.

And yet…there’s a very biblical way of thinking about the dawning of new day, week, and yes…year!

Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church is a response to real questions by real people whom Paul knows and loves. 1 Corinthians is certainly a practical and theological answer to questions, but at its core, it is an example of shepherding a flock of sinners saved by grace. Answers are given, thoughts are expounded, and falsehoods are confronted with a heart that these people would experience grace and peace walking in the privilege that it is to be those called into the fellowship of Jesus Christ by the God of the universe.
