In this episode of Merkaba Temple, spiritual teachers Christopher Shaw and Aeon Archer explore how to open your heart and live from love instead of fear through spiritual awakening, meditation, mindfulness, healing emotional wounds, trauma and the nervous system, compassion, forgiveness, healthy boundaries, conscious living, and personal transformation. Drawing from Christian spirituality and the teachings of Jesus, Buddhism, the Bhagavad Gita, Kashmir Shaivism, non-duality, and interspiritual wisdom, this spiritual teaching and guided meditation explores how to heal a guarded heart, remain open without abandoning yourself, and embody love in everyday life.
Our hearts close for good reasons.
Betrayal. Loss. Rejection. Trauma. Disappointment. Grief.
The nervous system learns to protect us. We become more careful. We trust less. We risk less. And eventually, the very defenses that once helped us survive can become barriers to intimacy, connection, and freedom.
But an open heart is not a naïve heart.
It has boundaries. It has discernment. It knows how to say no. It knows when to walk away.
It simply refuses to let wisdom become bitterness.
Christopher explores the spiritual journey from the closed heart, to the courageous heart, to the liberated heart—and offers a provocative possibility:
What if the spiritual path is not primarily about becoming more enlightened?
What if it is about becoming more open?
Following the teaching, Aeon Archer leads a guided open-heart meditation designed to help you recognize where fear may have caused your heart to become guarded, honor the parts of yourself that learned to protect you, and gently become more available to Love.
The world teaches us to harden.
The soul teaches us to deepen.
✨ Reflection Questions
• Where in my life has my heart closed in order to protect me?
• What has that protection cost me?
• Where have healthy boundaries become walls?
• Can I remain loving without abandoning myself?
• What would change this week if I lived from Love instead of fear?
🔥 Practice of the Week: The Open Heart Practice
1️⃣ Notice
Throughout your day, notice the moments when you contract.
Someone disappoints you. Someone challenges you. Fear appears. You feel yourself pulling away.
Simply notice.
2️⃣ Pause
Before reacting, take one conscious breath and ask:
“Am I responding from Love... or from fear?”
No judgment. Just awareness.
3️⃣ Discern
Living from Love does not always mean saying yes.
Sometimes Love says no.
Sometimes Love creates a boundary.
Sometimes Love tells the truth.
Sometimes Love walks away.
Ask:
“What would Love do here without abandoning me?”
4️⃣ Open
Allow your heart to soften just one degree.
You do not need to become completely vulnerable.
Simply become a little more available to compassion, understanding, connection, and Life.
5️⃣ Choose
Before you speak or act, ask:
“Can this come from Love?”
Then choose again.
And again.
And again.
