In the wilderness of Judah, separated from the sanctuary in Jerusalem, David fellowships with God, who is the desire of his being (vv.1-4), the delight of his soul (vv.5-8), and the defence of his life (vv.9-11).
Wilderness experiences are good for you, for they will teach you an important truth: You draw satisfaction from blessing on the inside, not from circumstances on the outside. When you face the wilderness experience, follow David’s experiences —David seeks God. He wanted to see God’s power and glory as he had seen in the sanctuary. He blessed God. “Thus will I bless thee while I live:” (v.4). And David rejoice in God. “But the king shall rejoice in God” (v.11). That’s what God wants from us, even in the wilderness. And God will meet your needs.
