Ark Audio

This month on the Ark Audio Book Club it’s Macon’s pick and we have read Tom Mccarthy’s novel “Satin Island” (2015), a Kafkaesque tale narrated by a corporate anthropologist named U, tasked to produce the Great Anthropological Report of our times. Instead, or perhaps because of his task, he becomes enamoured with the aesthetics of oil spills, the possibility of a serial killer of skydivers and the buffering of video streaming. This month Podcast features Giovanna Alesandro, Sarah Ommanney, the enfant terrible of Nordic podcasting Snorri Rafn Hallsson and is toasted by Macon Holt.

Satin Island is published by Vintage Books

As Senyora Psicosi grapples with how life is brought into this world, Herr Caller wonders whether he should just swerve into oncoming traffic. Leave this world. Go back to the void from whence we all came. Put your headphones on and drop out of the world in this darkest hour.

Or not. Senyora Psicosi does not give a fuck about Jonathan Franzen

The Ark Review reaches its 100th post, and Snorri and Macon discuss how you can pick up physical version of the Review for the very first time.

This month on the Ark Audio Review, Snorri goes through all our ephemera on the ephemeral and Macon and Gio interview Chris Kraus!

As Herr Caller finally establishes interaction with Senyora Psicosi, she wonders how our digital devices shape our being in this world. There is also twice the normal terrorism in this episode which incidentally is not about Jonathan Franzen. This show is not about white whales. Produced by Lord Edmund.

This month the Ark Audio Book Club discuss Alexandra Kleeman's debut novel "You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine". It's a story of bodies, symbols, shark documentaries, ephemeral cakes and obscured Christian cults. But is it good? This episode features Neus Casanova Vico, Sarah Ommanney, Macon Holt and is hosted by Giovanna Alesandro.

You can check out Macon's essay inspired by the novel here http://arkbooks.dk/the-ephemeral-body-and-meaningless-symbols-in-alexandra-kleemans-you-too-can-have-a-body-like-mine/

This month on the Ark Audio Review, the theme is "Leisure" and Snorri Rafn Hallsson is stretched out on a beach sipping a mojito and has outsourced the podcast to Macon Holt and Franek Korbanski, and featuring a story from the Irish artist and writer Oscar Dempsey.

It isn’t February 30th, and it may never be, although it once was, and Senyora Psicosi is here. Whatever the date, she is always here, a single thread running through the whole fiber of existence. Spinning and spinning and spinning. Get spinning, get spun. This show is not about Poland.

The rain softens Seniora Psicosis voice and reduces it almost to a whisper. As her voice withers away, so does her sense of self. Seniora Psicosi enters a dissociative state where one hand undoes the work of the other. Is that someone crying? Who knows? Seniora Psicosi doesn’t give a fuck. This show is not about Jonathan Franzen.
