This week we continue with our series covering chapters from my book "Duty to Defend." In this episode we discuss the chapter by Rev. Larry Beane II about Isaiah 2:4 and the idea that, to be good Christians, we should encourage people to melt down their guns and turn them into farm implements.

This week we are continuing our series on the book "Duty to Defend" with an article by Rev. George T. McCall. Matthew 7:12 tells us that we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Does this mean we should avoid owning a firearm for self-defense? Since we don't want to be shot, should we avoid firearms so that we do not shoot someone else?

This week we are continuing our series on the book "Duty to Defend" with an article by Rev. Philip Zielinski. Matthew 6:19-21 cautions us to not lay up treasures on earth that thieves can steal, but rather the lay up treasures in heaven. The implication being that you should not own a firearm for home defense because you should not use deadly force in defense of property (ignoring, of course, more nefarious intentions of home intruders).

We are continuing our series on the book "Duty to Defend" with an article by Rev. Guillaume Williams (of online hangout fame). Psalm 144:1 ("Blessed be the Lord…who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle") has been used as a proof text for gun rights. But are we training for war? Is the criminal our enemy? Or is this just a careless misuse of God's word to support gun ownership? se of the verse?

Every decision we make with regards to concealed carry is a compromise: concealability, comfort, shootability, convenience. Then there are legal and ethical questions. All these factors must be accounted for. What compromises you are willing to make and how do you handle those decisions?
