Cotton Malone is on the hunt for a forgotten 16th century Pledge of Christ—a sworn promise made by Pope Julius II that evidences a monetary debt owed by the Vatican, still valid after five centuries—now worth in the trillions of dollars. But collecting that debt centers around what happened to the famed Medici of Florence—a family that history says died out, without heirs, centuries ago.
Who will become the next prime minister of Italy, and who will be the next pope? Finding answers proves difficult until Cotton realizes that everything hinges on when, and if, the Medici return.
Conceived in the daydreams of adolescence, Deaf Andrews has blossomed from their roots, into a unique sonic flower of indie pop rock. It is the product of five best friends from Charlotte, NC making music that means something to them. Consisting of Nick Hayes (Vocals), Mike Sherrard (guitar), Ross Schumann (bass), Andrew Kingsley (guitar) and Braedon Nelson (drums). Deaf Andrews has continued to push their personal limits of creativity and emotional tuneness. Making it a priority to capture some of the magic energy that fuels their live shows, the sound is organic, direct, and channels the essence of true rock and roll while also exploring the experimental freedom of modern indie pop. The band has released two singles in 2023: “Phone Line” which harkens back to the youthful bliss experienced during the formative years of life; and “Just Not Right” which delves into the fickle nature of modern love. Catchy guitar layers and smooth tones are complemented with rousing lyrics that underscore feelings of love, recklessness, and comfort.
Thanks for being part of the conversation I am the Poet In The Forest. A children series I penned out in the 1990s. None of it would be possible if it wasn’t for this forest in South Charlotte, NC. I talk about it so much that I thought maybe it’s time you get to meet all that inspires me. Thanks for being part of the conversation

Blending dream-pop, shoegaze, and alternative rock, Vargas crafts a kaleidoscopic and melancholic soundscape. His music delves into themes of trauma, failure, and romantic loss, creating an evocative narrative experience.
Signed to New Morality Zine, Last Days Of Heaven debuts with the two-song single Nothing Left to Torture. Drawing inspiration from artists like Sparklehorse, My Bloody Valentine, and Deerhunter, the release features rich, layered compositions. The title track, “Nothing Left to Torture,” showcases floaty melodies and rich vocals, enhanced by saxophone, synths, and guitars from collaborator Jasper Byrne. The accompanying video, directed by Vargas, captures the song's wistful essence.
“Pain Machine” contrasts its bright, psychedelic groove with poignant lyrics about a troubled relationship, highlighting the project's multifaceted approach. Last Days Of Heaven marks a compelling new chapter in Vargas's musical journey, promising a unique blend of sound and storytelling.
Prepare to be challenged, enlightened, and touched by Wayne Scott’s new book: The Maps They Gave Us: One Marriage Reimagined – where convention is carefully questioned, examined - and ultimately tossed aside - as he navigates the complexities of relationships. After Scott’s wife, Eva, learns he is struggling with his identity within the context of their monogamous marriage, they make the difficult decision to separate. With three young children, a mortgage, and the threat of divorce looming large, the two take a leap of faith and begin attending couples therapy with a professional that will forever change each of their lives. It is in that very therapist’s office that the seeds for a beautiful, renewed phase of their relationship are sown as they seek to find a “common story” and, to their surprise, fall in love all over again.
An unlikely love story and a powerful antidote to a society becoming increasingly apathetic about marriage - The Maps They Give Us is a worthy exploration. Scott’s reflection and candor make the book a powerful reminder that sometimes the “end” is only just the beginning. Scott unpacks what it means to be in a mixed-orientation marriage - a set-up that he playfully dubs, “Will and Grace with kids, cats, and a mortgage.”
Unfiltered and uncensored, actress Ione Skye's memoir, SAY EVERYTHING (Gallery Books; Hardcover; on-sale March 4, 2025) offers a glimpse into a life lived at the intersection of Hollywood allure and personal exploration. Unlike anything Ione has done before, her memoir blends confessions, desire, and introspection in a way that transcends the typical celebrity narrative. A product of her varied and diverse career, SAY EVERYTHING reveals exactly what's on Skye's mind, intertwining compelling anecdotes from her personal and professional life with profound reflections on love, identity, and the pursuit of self-acceptance. Set against a backdrop of rock royalty compounds, supermodel cliques, and classic late-century films like River's Edge, Gas Food Lodging, and Wayne's World, SAY EVERYTHING is a wild ride of Hollywood thrills as well as a lyrical reflection on ambition, intimacy, and a messy, sexy, unconventional life. Born to the magnetic energy of a 1960s It Girl and the legendary musician Donovan, Skye navigated a landscape shaped by her father's absence and rejection. In her quest for connection, she became entwined with some of the brightest stars of her generation-Keanu Reeves, River Phoenix, Matthew Perry, John Cusack, and Robert Downey Jr.-as well as the rebellious spirit of '90s "bad girls." From her teenage relationship with Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to her breakout role in Say Anything to her marriage to Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys, Ione Skye was a Gen X icon. SAY EVERYTHING invites readers to experience a raw and poignant evolution, exploring themes of love, loss, and resilience set against the backdrop of the sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll of the early 90's.
